Config to pass on faster connection speed

Nestnetwork

Hi,

I have been using my nest wifi successfully for many months. 1 router hub and 3 slaves. This week I changed the ethernet connection to the router from 70Mbps to my new fibre service running at 300Mbps. The nest speed test via google home shows that the ethernet is correctly running at 300Mbps. But when I test my Wifi using any device is only runs at 30 to 60 Mbps and not 300.  Wifi on my ISP provided router has been turned off so only running Ethernet. I have also prioritised the Ethernet connection to the nest. DOes anyone know why my next network is not passing on the full 300Mbps ? This is even the case when I stand right next to the router.

Thanks

Dave

Hey, Nestnetwork.
Sorry for the late response here, but I wanted to check in to see if you were still having this issue and to see if you have done any troubleshooting so far. If you still need help, let me know and I'll be happy to work on this with you.
Thanks.

Hi Jeff,
It seems that the nest divides the connectivity at around the house at 50Mbps from each node. I have the master connected by ethernet to my fibre router at 300 / 100 Mbps and 4 mesh nodes. Speed tests everywhere run at 40 to 50Mbps download and 15 to 20 Mbps upload.

If I test the mesh speed using google home its reads 300 / 100 Mbps

If there is a way to increase the mesh speed to devices I would be interested. Modem is from Trooli (english fibre ISP)

Thanks

Dave

Hey, Nestnetwork.

Thanks for the added info. I have a couple of things for you to check real quick.

  • When you run the mesh test, what do you get for connection strength on your WiFi points?
  • Do you have any preferred activities set up in Google Home?
  • If you set a priority device and repeat the network test, do you see any changes in overall performance?

If you can let me know those things, I think we can move onto next steps for troubleshooting.

Thanks.

Hi Jeff,
Connection test is all good. I just set my phone as a priority device and it jumped to 150 / 100 Mbps measured at about 3m from a connection point. Thats while several other devices are active

Thanks

Thanks for running that test for me.

This might sound a bit weird, but if you prioritize your phone and then run a speed check, do you see speeds up across the board, or only for your prioritized device?

Everything goes up a bit - by 10 - 20Mbps

But nowhere near the 300Mbps inbound speed from the router. I don't have any preferred applications set up BTW.

Thanks for checking on that, Nestnetwork.

I'm going to have to check with an internal team on this, but out of curiosity, have you tried contacting support via phone or chat to see if they can directly diagnose your network? If not, you can do that here: https://bit.ly/3o1aRK5.

I'll report back when I hear more, but it might be a good idea for you to try speaking with support as well.

Thanks.

Hi, Nestnetwork.

I just wanted to follow up and see if you tried contacting support and to see if you had any luck going that route. Let me know if there's more I can do here for you.

Thanks.

Hey, Nestnetwork.

Just one more follow up real fast to see if you were able to make any progress here or to see if you still needed some help and to see if you were able to connect with support. If things are still not working right, let me know.

Thanks.

Hi, everyone.
As we haven't had any activity here recently I'm going to go ahead and close the thread. If you have more to add, feel free to start a new discussion.
Thanks
