Disable wifi on Nest wifi router?

Picklepot

Is there a way to disable the wifi radio in the Nest wifi router and just have it act as a router?  For example, if the current network configuration already has access points set up (that can not be reasonably replaced at this time).

Thank you!

Hello @Picklepot

No, there is no way to disable to WiFi radio in the Nest WiFi Router. It may still work as a router if you configure it to use a different WiFi network name and password so other devices don't connect to it. Then you can build a wired network from its LAN Ethernet port and connect your existing devices to that (including existing access points). I'm not sure why you'd want to use it that way, but it should work.

The Nest wifi router has per device internet bandwidth usage statistics that we need.

Our structured wiring has our existing Orbi satellites hardwired for their backhaul connection (which improves performance since double wifi hops are eliminated).

Hey, Picklepot.

What you're looking to do would work with the Nest WiFi routers, but as MichaelP said, you're not going to be able to turn off the WiFi signal, so you will still need to set up some form of wireless network. You could always use it as wireless communication for your other devices and make use of the Google Assistant features as well. If you decide to go this route, just let us know if there's any help you need on the setup side.

Thanks.
