Error when setting up Google WiFi guest network

Slapin

I am trying to set up a guest network and I continue to receive an error. I am able to type in a guest network name and password and then hit save. After about 15 seconds of the spinning wheel, I receive an error “an error has occurred while attempting to update your guest network”.

any help appreciated.

Hello Slapin,

Thanks for reaching out. We'd love to help.

A few questions: were you able to set up a guest network before? If you did, when did the issue start? What Google Home app version are you using?

Make sure that you have the latest Google Home app version installed. Force-close the app before trying to create a new guest network again. Verify that the network name and password don't contain special characters or spaces.

Keep me posted.

Sincerely,
Lovely

Hi,

This is the first time I've attempted to set up a guest network, so the issue and the creation of a guest network are both new.  I am using the Google Home App from iOS and I have the latest downloaded.

I force closed the app and I confirmed that both the network name and password do not contain any special characters or spaces.   Still receiving the same error code.

Could it be anything related to the age of the hardware?

Hey Slapin,

I appreciate the information that you provided to me. Your concern should not be related to the hardware of your Google Wifi since it's still supported in the Google Home app. Please try restarting your network before creating the guest network. You may also use another phone or tablet if you have one available.

Thanks,
Lovely
