Family WiFi Group Not Pausing

adlai15

We have a family group set up to pause certain devices at 8 PM.

At 8 PM, the devices correctly paused.

A short time later, we ended the schedule so the devices could be used.

An hour after that I clicked Pause on the group.

The “thinking” indicator spun for a bit then went away. The group was still not paused.

I tried this multiple times, but the group still will not pause.

Help!

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with the Google Nest WiFi device. I understand that you create a family group to be able to pause some devices at certain time. You created a schedule to pause some devices at 8 PM, and it worked. Some hours later, you resumed the devices, but when trying to pause them again, it was not pausing the family group. No worries, help is here.

In order to give you the correct steps, I need some extra information. Here are some questions for you:

  • Are the devices connected to the same network?
  • Do the devices indicate any error messages?
  • Do all devices show up in the Google Home app?
  • How were the WiFi points set up (topology)?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you tried?

In the meantime, you can try the next troubleshooting steps:

  1. On the phone that you want to pause, follow the next:
    1. Android: Tap device settings, then go to WiFi, select the network name, and hit forget.
    2. iOS: Tap settings, then go to WiFi, and next to “Wi-Fi network,” tap the info button, then hit on Forget This Network, and finally tap on forget.
  2. Try to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.
  3. Delete the family group following the next steps:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap favorites or devices.
      1. On favorites: Tap WiFi.
      2. On devices: Tap and hold your device’s tile, then go to settings and Network settings.
    3. Tap on Family Wi-Fi.
    4. Tap the group to delete and then tap the edit icon.
    5. Tap the 3 dots.
    6. To delete the group, tap the trash icon.
  4. Then create again the group doing the next:
    1. Open the Google Home app.
    2. Tap favorites or devices.
      1. On favorites: Tap WiFi.
      2. On devices: Tap and hold your device’s tile, then go to settings and Network settings.
    3. Tap on Family Wi-Fi.
    4. At the bottom right, tap Add.
    5. Select Group.
    6. Tap Next to create a group.
    7. Create a group name, and tap Next.
    8. Choose the devices to add to the group, and tap Next.
    9. Toggle on or off to restrict access and tap Next.
    10. Tap schedule pauses to create a scheduled pause or Not Now to finish.

Please check the following articles: Create and delete groups with Family Wi-Fi for further information.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.
