Frustrated with Google WIFI Upgrades?

BangTechmigs
Community Member

I’ve invested in Google WiFi for my large home, starting with 4-6 access points. Then came the upgrade to Nest WiFi Pro 6E, so I bought another 3-5 devices to keep up with the latest speed and coverage. Now, there’s yet another release promising even better performance.

Why can’t these devices be backward compatible or smart enough to seamlessly connect and extend my network? It’s frustrating having to constantly buy new hardware to stay up to date, especially when I’ve already invested so much in Google’s ecosystem.

What am i to do with all of these old Access points and devices? why do i need to continue to spend to stay connected? Proven my support to google?

Shouldn’t smart tech be smarter than this? #GoogleWiFi #NestWiFiPro #SmartHomeFrustrations #TechUpgradeFatigue #WiFiWoes

Hi @BangTechmigs,

Thanks for posting in the community forum. I'm sorry to hear you've had such a frustrating experience with your Mesh system, and I'd be happy to look into this further for you.

Nest Wifi Pro isn't backwards compatible with earlier generations of Nest Wifi or Google Wifi mesh systems. This means your Nest Wifi Pro can't be combined with earlier versions of Nest Wifi or Google Wifi routers or points in a single mesh network. I encourage you to submit feedback using the method available in the home app, if you haven't already. This will help us to improve our devices and services or create new features in the future. To learn more about this, please check out the following article: Nest Wifi Pro mesh compatibility.

Please let me know if you have any questions from here, as I'd be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Sincerely,
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for your response and for confirming the compatibility limitations of the Nest Wifi Pro with earlier generations of Nest Wifi and Google Wifi systems. I’m already aware of these compatibility issues and regularly use the Home app for centralized access and support.

My concern is more about what to do with multiple outdated devices and the continuous need to upgrade to new models. While I understand the importance of feedback for future improvements, I’m trying to understand how providing feedback will address my current situation regarding the investment I've made in these devices and the challenge of managing outdated equipment.

Any guidance on how to best utilize my existing devices or insights on upgrade paths would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
@BangTechmigs
