Lifx not adding new light

We have Ggogle nest pro 6e and since we bought it, the zstrips have been flashing once every hour or so but then we had a power outage and everything except one z strip and its extension came back online fine. I made the mistake of factory resetting the strip, and now it just won't "add new". It finds it, connects to it but then times out at preparing device. It's constantly colour cycling. I've tried every trick I can find online that I'm able to understand, including a guest network and a 2.4ghz hotspot. The problem is I can't force my S23 Ultra to choose 2.4ghz as the band steering of the nest wifi forces my phone to 6e while trying to set up the lights. I need to be able to turn off band steering or to force the nest to 2.4ghz as the band steering is working against me in this instance. Any suggestions?

Hi @myndiii,

Thank you for contacting our support community! I'm sorry you're having trouble with your lights and internet connection, and I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts. I'm happy to help!

I've reviewed the information you provided, and I have a few more questions to help me better understand the situation.

  • Is your phone/tablet connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you want the light to connect to? (2.4GHz is often required for smart home devices)
  • What type of Lifx light are you trying to add (e.g., bulb, strip, tile)?
  • Are there any other smart home devices on your network, and are they working correctly?
  • Have you tried restarting your router and modem?
  • Are there any physical obstructions between the light and the router (e.g., walls, large appliances)?

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,

Eduardo
