Google Home App Reporting Google Incorrect Data Useage

Bob12

Is there a known bug where Google Home App reports crazy high download data usage stats compared to actual?

Google home reported over 1.2 terabytes of download usesge compared to Comcast which is showing around 100 gb.

Hi, Bob12.

Thanks for posting to the community, and sorry for any confusion you might be seeing with this. I am not aware of any bug in regards to download usage. Was this data usage reported over a certain time period? If so, how long is the discrepancy between the reported numbers? Is this a single day?

If you can give me any other details, it can help me look into this with you.

Thanks,

- Jeff

I am getting this from the iOS app.  The view below is a one-day view, which is for yesterday.  No way I downloaded 1.23 TB of information on my iPhone in a single day.  This does not match up to what my internet provides for data usage.  Does this help?

Thanks for all the added info, everyone. We're definitely seeing enough here that I will take this to an internal team. As soon as I know more, I'll reach back out and update things here.

Thanks,

- Jeff

It has been happening for a couple of months in case you are wondering. It would also be great to have the option to reset data usage in the app.

Hi, all.

Thanks for all the added info. I'm still waiting to hear back from our internal teams on this. I imagine the holiday has delayed a response a bit, but I hope to hear something soon. I'll update as soon as I know more.

Thanks,

I am having the exact problem with non-ios devices.  I went looking here for answers.

I'm also facing the same issue. It's been happening over multiple days and only affects iPhones and MacBooks. Third-party monitoring shows several hundred MB used, but the Home app shows hundreds of GB.

Following this because I'm seeing the same issue on multiple devices. I saw crazy data usage on a device I even had paused! I use the app to track usage because I have satellite internet and have limited bandwidth. But I don't think it's reporting correctly

Same, this is solely from my samsung TV though. Have logged out of every app and it still happens. The only way to stop it is to unplug the TV or internet from the TV. Costing a ton through Comcast

My issue appears to be only with the data reported for 1 day.  The 7 day and 30 day usage is more in line with my ISP data usage.  It appears that the high data reported for 1 day is not being reported to my ISP.  I intend to check on this though.

I’m seeing the same thing with my car’s connection. It’s reporting high upload on the 1 day, but only 10% of that for upload on the 7 day total and 30 day total.

Hi, I have the same issue, I have apparently used 2,5TB  last month and have devices that reportedly used 200GB in a couple of hours. Something is of in your math.
