Google Mesh Slow

My Google Wifi Mesh (Gen 1) has been working fine, but now it's suddenly running slow.  I have 1 Gig fiber service (At&t) and Google Home reports around 800M speed, and on my computer I'm seeing about 400M speed when connected wirelessly to the base Google device (router), but when I move to a room with the node, I'm only getting 40M.  The diagnostics on the Google Home app are fine -- it says my two nodes have a good connection.  

Tried to call Google....wow that an exercise in futility - they keep routing me back to here so I'll give it a try!
