Google Nest Pro point goes into slow yellow blinking light

I purchased a Google Nest Wifi Pro from Target in April of 2024. To date, the point will not maintain a connection. I set it up per the instructions and it connects, but within ten to twenty seconds, I get a slow yellow light blinking. The main point is hard wired to the modem and I never have any trouble with my connected devices. I have Kinetic by Windstream fiber internet. My latest speed test through the Google Home app reports 949 Mbps download and upload. 28 devices are connected.

Hi wgtalbott,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand your Nest Wifi Pro point isn't maintaining a connection, showing a slow yellow blinking light shortly after setup, despite your main point working fine and excellent internet speeds. I'm happy to assist!

To isolate the root cause of this inconvenience, I'd like to ask the following questions:

  • How far is the affected Nest Wifi Pro point from your main Nest Wifi Pro router?
  • When you set up the Nest Wifi Pro point, did you place it in an open area, or is it in a cabinet or behind other electronics?
  • Have you had any power outages recently?

Please let me know if you have any other information; it'll be helpful.

Best regards,
Juan

Thank you, Juan. When I initially set up the router and point, they were sitting next to each other on a desk. The point is currently about 40 feet away from the router. Each device is in a separate room. Yes, we recently had a short power outage.

Hi wgtalbott,

Thank you so much for keeping me updated. To continue addressing the inconvenience, let's perform some steps:

  1. Disconnect the power from the modem.
  2. Disconnect the Ethernet cable and power cord from the Nest Wifi Pro router.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the Nest Wifi Pro point.
  4. Leave everything unplugged for 2 minutes.
  5. Start a 2-minute timer to track.
  6. Check for the make and model of the modem and make sure there isn't any backup battery. If there’s a backup battery, remove the battery; otherwise, it won't perform a power cycle.
  7. Connect the power to the modem and wait up to a minute until the modem fully powers on.
  8. All light indicators should be solid colors.
  9. Connect the Ethernet cable, then the power cable, to the Nest Wifi Pro router. Wait until it is fully back online.
  10. Connect the power cord to the Nest Wifi Pro point.

Please let me know how it goes. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Juan
