Google Nest Router won't connect

LBear

A few days ago the internet in my area went down. Now the internet is back is back and my modem has been reset several times, but my nest router won't connect after many restarts and trying to set up as a new network. Router says it's not getting the signal from the modem. I have a mesh system with a whole house network, but I am unable to connect to that network, I have unplugged the other two pucks. My modem seems to be working fine. I've spent hours on this with no success.

Hey @LBear .

The modem will have to be provisioned again by your ISP if you did a reset on it. You can sometimes request this by connecting a computer to the modem and try to navigate to a site which will bring up a self-help installation site, but it varies by ISP; if not, contact the ISP to send the provisioning.

Once the modem has been provisioned again, follow the below:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the modem and Google/Nest Wifi
  2. Connect an Ethernet cable from the modem output (or Port #1 if no "output" port) to the Google/Nest Wifi
  3. Plug the power cable back into the modem
  4. Once the modem starts booting, immediately plug in the power cable to the Google/Nest Wifi
  5. The two should negotiate a bridge connection and things should go back to working again

Hey folks,

Thanks for lending a hand, @PatrickP_Viking.
