I’ve had the Google Nest for a little over a year now and it has been nothing but perfect. However, the past week, I have been experiencing dropped Zoom calls/Microsoft Teams calls. Not only the dropped calls, but unexpected pauses on video conferences and slow connection in general.
I have connected with my internet provider and they can’t find an issue on their end and say it is most likely a Google Nest issue.
I have the Google Home app and my wifi says “great connection” and all points are connected.
WHAT IS GOING ON???
I work from home and this CANT be happening.
might have to invest in a different router…

Common pitfalls that can affect performance and reliability.
Not putting modem/ISP equipment in front of Nest Wifi in bridge mode, sometimes known as bypass mode.
More is not neccessarily better, as more units adds more overhead (traffic going between Nest Wifi units), and wireless interference.
Don't hide the Nest Wifi units, place them in plain sight.
Fewer jumps is better. Nest Wifi will also prefer fewer hops, even if that route has much worse signal strength. If a node can reach the main unit at all on it's way to the internet, even though another node unit is closer and can give better signal strength, the node unit in this example will go directly to the main unit.
Best practice is to place the main unit in the middle, so that all other node units jumps as few hops as possible, with a optimal path and signal strength straight back to the main unit. To illustrate the point, here is a simplified diagram I just made.
Like a home surround systems.
Disable MAC randomization, especially on Apple devices:
Other Apple related settings that can affect reliability.
It can also help to disable all preferred activities:

Hi there!
Can a Bluetooth sound bar and base box interfere with the Google nest connection?

Hi cameron101,
It depends. What kind of Bluetooth sound bar and base box is it? I'll wait for your update.

Abi
