I have been struggling with my Nest WiFi Pro. I have one router, 2 ap's. Normally they work great. LAtely they started to slow to where my download speed its around 15Mbps. I have a Cox Gigablast 1Gbps connection. Rebooting the Google WiFi Pro router speeds the connection back to normally. Usually around 950Mbps down. However within 24 hours or so the speeds will be back to 15Mbps. Plugging my laptop directly into my cable modem shows that Cox is NOT the problem. Thoughts

Are your Google Nest WiFi Pro access points hard wired to your Google Nest that is connected to your cable modem? Hard wiring them is the way to go for maximum speeds. I have 1 hard-wired access point myself, and a Speedtest from it is the same as from the main unit connected directly to my cable modem. If you're using the access points on wireless mode, they will be a lot slower, from what I'm reading. Also, in the Google Home app, under "Advanced Networking" settings, if you enable "Use 160MHZ channel for maximum performance on 5GHZ", some devices may work a lot slower if they're not fully compatible. So I have that turned off. Also I noticed that these Nest WiFi Pro's wireless signals do not penetrate drywall very well at all (especially 5 and 6GHz). Each room needs their own hard-wired access points to get the top theoretical maximum connection speeds. So my small 2 room house each has its own Nest WiFi point. When you are behind several interior walls, the signal will slow considerably. And don't put the access point right next to anything (keep it a foot away from anything), and mount them as high as you can. Mine are both 4 to 5 feet from the floor for maximum signal coverage.

My issue is not with WiFi coverage or speeds. I am hard wired on my pc. The problem is the "router" internet speeds slows way down. WiFi connections too, but all i have to do is reboot the one main router and the other ap's never get rebooted. Once the router connection to the Internet speeds back up after the router (not the cable modem) is rebooted all the speeds everywhere are back to normal. I'm starting to think i have to replace using the Google router as my firewall and put another more capable device there instead.

Here's a thought I have. Before you switch to another brand router, one last resort to try is you could try resetting everything and set it up again.
In the Google Home app, under "Network Settings", you click on "Factory Reset entire network". Maybe something just got setup weird the first time it was setup. I read in another post somewhere, that a person had success after they reset theirs and did the setup a second time. Also, if you changed anything with your internet provider, like change internet modem, or change services, the Google Nest should be reset and setup again fresh on the new service plan. I read somewhere that a lot of things are setup on Google Servers, and not solely in the WiFi router unit local hardware.
If this doesn't work, maybe a different WiFi router device would work better in your circumstance. Everyone's network situation is different (different internet modems, different switches, different wifi devices).

Hi jbutina,
That certainly isn’t the experience we want you to have. A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Also, do you have any paused devices?
Give these steps a try:
You may skip any step that you’ve done already.
Thanks for helping, TheMacGeek!
Best,
Dan

lol . . is a modem only . . . an Arris (TM3402). The Google WiFi router has a public IP address.
My test is WIRED . . . not wireless, so interference is not part of this (5ft cable from my laptop to the google WiFi router)
no special characters in my network name or password already . . .
IPv6 is disabled both on my network and on my computer
i have tested both using names and using ip addresses (to bypass dns) and have tried both cox (my provider) and the aforementioned google dns servers . . . no real difference (dns resolution is a little faster using the Cox dns servers than the google ones)
Have factory reset the thing and reset it up . . . no change
The thing is when it is being slow i can unplug my cable and plug directly into the cox cable modem and speed is great. then move it back to the google router and it is slow as a dog . . . reboot the cable modem, no change . . . reboot the google router, much faster now. I have to reboot that thing 3 or 4 times a week minimum. when i reset it up i switched which of my 3 devices was the router vs the aps to see if there was a hard ware problem, but that didn't change anything either . . . i did notice the google router is MUCH hotter than the google AP's (again no matter which is setup to be the router)
