Google Nest Wifi Not Working after Power Failure

I know there are about a dozen entirely unhelpful threads on this, but they're all locked, so I thought I'd open up a new one to be gaslit for awhile.

First and foremost, this is a critically defective product that should have been recalled. Knowing that, I still spent a few hundred bucks on it, so I'd like to limp through with it until I decide to buy something that works. The issue (as called out by dozens of others) is that if the Nest Wifi system loses power for even a millisecond, the entire ecosystem has to be hard reset one by one. I've had to do this about 8 times, and while it's always been time consuming, this new issue is a first for me. I assume it's related to the firmware "fix" they put in at the end of 2023.

Previously, every time this happened, I just had to reset every single device in my house (google mesh setup with router and 2 repeaters, 3 smart locks, 6 cameras, ALL had to be individually reset). However, now, even resetting doesn't work. I get to the second step in setting up the Wifi router and I get the dreaded "Connection Failed" error when it tries to get a network connection.

I know I'm not alone in this, but has Google just abandoned trying to fix this? Has anyone that's gotten stuck in the endless "Connection Failed" loop been successful in fixing it?

As a side note, can anyone recommend a replacement (from literally any company other than google) that actually works?

Completely agree. Google Nest Wifi has been a defective product from the day it was released and every single update either adds new issues or makes existing issues worse.

current example: WiFi points going offline randomly and for no apparent reason.
this is an issue I logged with support over 2 years ago and to date nothing has been done to resolve it. Currently one of my points goes offline at least twice a day.

all support does (and 99.9% of the replies here) is tells you to do exactly the same thing over and over which does not work.

these are the same as pretty much every other Google hardware product, defective and not fit for purpose.

unfortunately after spending hundreds of dollars on this product I’m simply not in a position to replace it. I made the stupid mistake of thinking sticking to a single ecosystem would be best. Never again.

My favorite part of reviewing these dozens of threads of unhappy customers is "Jeff" waiting until 5-6 users recommend fixes, then popping in and saying "hey, did what that other guy said to try work? If I don't get a reply I'm gonna lock this thread."

The only thing I've found more useless than Nest products is Jeff.

Hi folks,

Firstly, we apologize for the inconvenience you're having with your Nest Wifi mesh system. Let us help you out: is the issue still persisting? How often does the concern happen? Do all devices lose their connection daily?

Let us know the answers so we know what steps to take next.

Kind regards,

Dan
