Google Nest wifi - stuck while adding point to network

kameronfeola

I am trying to set up my new google nest wifi mesh network. I have the router setup and working. I have been trying to add the 2 wifi points that came with it. I go through the steps in the app and get to the screen "Adding Wifi point to your Wi-Fi network". It just sits there and doesn't do anything. I can see the points in my devices but I can't tell if they are actually connected to the network. It doesn't seem like they are. I have tried closing and restarting the app but still the same result when I click on the device. What are the next steps to fix this issue?

I have now tried restarting the router and all the points as well. I also moved one of the points closer to see if it was a range issue. Still stuck on the same screen.

I have the same issue. I gave up and am sending the item router and point back. I tried factory resetting the point and nothing seemed to work after multiple attempts.

Hi kameronfeola,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry your two Google WiFi points are not connecting. I appreciate all your efforts in trying to connect them by closing, restarting the app, and moving them closer. I'm here to help! To gather some more details, I'd like to ask the following questions:

  • Did you try to set up the points wirelessly or through a wired connection? How do you want your mesh setup?
  • What's the color of the lights on the parent and child points?
  • Does the device’s LED pulse orange?
  • Is the child point within the recommended distance from the parent point? The recommended distance is between 20 to 25 feet (6 to 7 meters)
  • Do you have any switches in your network setup?

Let me know if you have any additional information; it’ll be helpful.

Best regards,
Juan
