Issue: Google Wi-Fi Pro guest network constantly dropping IOT devices and difficult to connect to on my cell phone. No issues with the primary network so far.
Details:
- Upgraded our home mesh network with Google Wi-Fi Pro routers (x3), replacing first generation Google Wi-Fi routers (x3).
- Primary network strong and reliable. No issues with connectivity, stability, and speed for cell phones, computers/Chromebook, and other primary devices.
- Guest network drops/won’t connect: 3 of 6 Nest Protects, Nest x Yale door lock (via Nest Connect), won’t connect 1 new Google Floodlight Camera, and drops ChargePoint Home EV charger.
- Guest network difficult to connect to via cell phone and we gave up on our child’s school issue Chromebook – now connected to our primary network.
- Guest network has been fine for other devices: 4 TCL Roku TVs, Lennox Smart Thermostat, 3 Google Floodlight Cameras, Google Battery Doorbell, and a Peloton.
- Many of the offline/dropped devices are collocated with working devices: doorbell is right next to the yale lock, the unconnected floodlight is outside right behind a wall mounted TV, the ChargePoint EV Charger is directly under a working floodlight camera, etc.
Depending on the support available in this forum, I am prepared to move all of my IOT and other devices onto my primary network; however, that defeats some of my intent behind buying $400 worth of new mesh routers.
Thank you.
