Google WiFi - Limited download speed since early june 2023

Since early june I've been getting slow download speeds. I tried doing a factory reset and I got my full speed (200Mbps/20Mbps) back however when I add a WiFi point the download speed slows. All the tests done via the Google Home App. I attach the speed test history results. I've not added/removed any WiFi points prior neither after ealy june 2023.

Thanks for posting — let’s see what’s going on.

A few questions: were there recent changes on your network? Are you using a modem-router combo? Is there a switch on your network? 

Please ensure that the Ethernet cable connected to your modem and Google Wifi point is undamaged and securely fastened. Give the steps below a try:

  • If you're using a modem/router combo, set it to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
  • Ensure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and that the Wifi points are no more than two rooms apart.
  • Remove any special characters from your network name and password.
  • Change your DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 on your primary and 8.8.4.4 on your secondary servers.
  • Unplug the power from your modem and Google Nest Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  • If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network. Take note that this will remove all network data.

These are the same steps I got from Google Support, none of them worked. I didn't make any changes to Google WiFi network settings.

. The modem is in bridge mode.

. No interference from walls. Remember the test/speed I do it from the main WiFi Point.

. The password/SSID hasn't got any special characters.

. The DNS were already pointing to Google's.

. I did a factory reset TWICE
