Google Wifi Mesh network fail to connect to internet post factory reset

Hi All,

Wondering is anyone else has faced this issue.

I moved to a new house and as such factor reset my Google Wifi Mesh.

I can now see that slow blinking blue light appears on Wifi router and I can connect to the Wifi router, however every time, I get message "No Internet". I have checked my ISP userid/password and also reached out to google help desk but no help from last 10 days.

Has anyone faced this issue before and any suggestion?

I suspect VLAN tagging then. Ask your ISP if they know whether Google Wifi and Nest Wifi works with their modem and WAN type, and whether they use VLAN tagging.

I don't work for Google.

Have you put the ISP equipment in bridge mode / bypass mode / IP passthrough mode to avoid double NAT, which Nest Wifi is known for struggling with?

If the first advice did not help: What ISP and WAN type? Do you know if the new ISP uses VLAN tagging?

Hi olavrb,

Thank you for your reply. Below are the steps which I have done till date.

1. Factor reset my main Google Wifi and additional google wifi mesh router

2. Disconnected my ISP provided router

3. Connected Google Wifi into power and connected Ethernet cable between modem and Google Wifi

4. Open Google Home and search for Google Wifi, Google Home detects Wifi router

5. I get page with following options a. DHCP b. Static IP c. PPPoE

6. I choose PPPoE and put userid and password which my ISP has provided for internet router

7. I get message that "WAN settings are incorrect" and internet does not connect through Google Wifi

8. With same userid and password, I can connect to the internet through the router provided by my ISP

Hi Olavrb,

Thank you for your quick reply, post your reply and reviewing some community write up from ISP, I have now managed to resolve the issue.

The problem was that in PPPoE account and password, I was using router network key and network password. However, my ISP provider wants me to use online account and password which they have provided me. Not sure why they have done something like this. My previous ISP provider only needed network key and network password. But anyhow, the issue is now resolved. So relived.

Thank you for your help and guidance, much appreciated.
