Google Wifi and Safari issues

I am a IOS user and Safari won't load websites when using Google Nest. The problem has persisted for the last 3 months since the google router was set up

Been having the same problem for a while now as well. Thing is, when I go onto my mobile data on my iOS devices, or my PC from a completely different browser, I have access to that same content.

Hi folks,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with browsing with the Safari app when connected to your Google WiFi. I'd love to know more about what's happening and I have a few questions:

  • Are you getting any messages on the Safari app?
  • Are you also having issues with other apps?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Edward

It’s not blocking everything, but it does affect one that it use to work no problem for previously.

I use both my iPhone X and an iPad Air 4th Gen, both kept up to date on their firmware. It’s been going on for a few weeks for me now.

The site that (I know for sure) doesn’t work properly for me is Officepools.com, when I try to make my selections. I can view rankings, and a few other things, but anytime I try to bring up my picks, or those of others via my admin settings for the group, nothing will appear on the page load apart from the background. The moment I switch to mobile data, it will load the content without fault. I also have a few PC’s that use different browsers, connected to the same network, and have no issues loading. This leads me to believe there is something in the way the wifi is working with my iOS devices.

I am having the same issue, it is really frustrating. It opens some sites while others cannot be opened. I have no content restriction set up, it's a stock standard configuration. After restarting the WiFi router, it sometimes starts to work, but in many cases the issue then appears on a different iOS device.

Hey, all.

It's been a little while since we've seen some discussion here. I would be happy to jump in if needed, so let me know if you're still seeing the same issue or if anything has changed with time. I look forward to sorting this out with you if needed.

Thanks.

Hey, everyone.
It looks like we've slowed down here again. We'll be closing up the thread unless anyone else has any input or needs anything else. If so, just let me know and we can keep this open a bit longer.
Thanks.

It started working normally for me again a couple of weeks ago. Hard to troubleshoot an issue that isn’t present anymore 🤷‍♂️.

Hi, Padnarok.

I'm happy to hear it's working. It's possible that you received an app or device update either on the Google side or the iOS side. Either way, it's nice to see the improvement here.

If anyone else still needs anything, please let me know.

Thanks.

Just installed Google Nest about an hour ago. I’m a windows guy and my wife is an Apple lady.  She’s having trouble with safari not always working.  Any ideas?

I had this issue start with me yesterday after switching to a Google Nest. After reading a few other threads I found that going into Safaris proxy settings (Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Proxies: Change Settings) and unticking Auto Proxy Discovery has fixed the issue.

YOU are the real MVP! Thank you, I was going crazy because it was only happening on my wifi network.

Hi, atate416.

Thanks for sharing the solution that worked for you! Hopefully others in the thread can give that a try and clear up their own situation as well. For those that haven't given it a try, see atate416's post and give that a try. Let me know if you have and things still haven't worked.

Thanks.

Hey, DustinWilliams.

Were the fixes mentioned in here able to clear up your issue as well, or are you still seeing problems?

Thanks.

No, this resolved my issue, but google really needs to play nice with Mac again cause I can't go back to windows.

I'm still having this issue. Safari will time out loading or load extremely slow on my google mesh network, but works fine on any other network. Chrome will load fine on my google mesh network just fine. Have tried the fix mentioned above but no improvement.
