Google Wifi wont go into setup properly.

I'm trying to reset my google wifi and I went through and did the factory reset on the device itself. After I did the reset the device will turn on a solid blue light rather than the solid white light so I can connect it to the home app. I have tried resetting it again but it has the same issue.

I’m currently having the same exact problem, please let me know if you find a solution.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear that your Google Wifi is not resetting ― let's see what's going on.

The Google Nest Wifi has a different process of factory reset from the Google Wifi. It is important that you follow the steps for the device you have. Here's how:

Google Nest Wifi router

  1. Press and hold the factory reset button. The light will flash yellow, then turn solid yellow. When the light is solid yellow, release the button.
  2. The reset process will start, which can take up to 10 minutes. Don't unplug the power cord during this process.
  3. When factory reset is complete, the light on your router will pulse white.
  4. After the device has been reset, the device will still appear in the Google Home app. To remove the device, follow the instructions for app factory reset. To set up again, you'll need to create a new network, then re-add any points again.

Google Nest Wifi point

  1. Press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the point.
  2. It will make a dialogue about resetting, wait for the next sound (bell sound) then let go of the reset button.
  3. Once the reset is complete after about 3 minutes, the point will make a sound saying, "To get started, download the Google Home app.." indicating that it is ready for setup.

Google Wifi

  1. Unplug the power from your Google Wifi for 10 seconds.
  2. Press and hold the reset button.
  3. While still holding the reset button for about 4 seconds, plug the power back in. Your Google Wifi point will flash white initially and then it will turn blue.
  4. When it starts to flash blue, let go of the factory reset button immediately. After letting go, it will turn to solid blue shortly. The reset process can take up to 10 minutes depending on the data traffic it needs to clear.
  5. When the light turns slowly blinking blue, it is ready for setup.

Also, make sure that there is no current network on your Google Home app so when your device is ready for setup, it will create a new network instead of adding it to an offline network.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Mel
