Google apps not updating and facebook videos and pictures not loading since late August

Since late August 2024 my android phone will see google apps that need to be updated and will start downloading and get to about 30 - 40% and stop. I have let them sit for 3 days and they will not update until i disconnect from the Google Nest wifi and connect via the phones data network and they will update just fine.  I have also noted that during this same time frame if i am connected to my google wifi network i cannot view any facebook photos nor videos.

My troubleshooting consisted of restarting the network multiple times but does not resolve the issue. I connected directly to my cable router via wireless and everything works just fine. I checked the settings on the router and even setup a linksys router to the cable router and it works fine on the linksys router.  I have attempted to enable and disable ipv6 on the google wifi and this did not resolve the issue. I have stood directly beside the router and get the same result. My wifi connection speeds are 500mbps download and 25mbps upload. When i go into the home app and run a speed test i get the same speeds as i do from the cable router.

My software version on the google nest router is 14150.883.17. My model is H2D.

Does anyone have any recommendations as I am at my wits end with this?

Hi @tnapier,

Thanks for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing slow internet performance on your Nest Wifi router. I understand it can be frustrating if you're not getting the internet speed you expected. Don't worry, let's work together to fix this. To help with that, I have a few questions:

  • Does the issue happen with a specific device or with multiple devices?
  • Do you have points in your mesh system?
  • Have you tried connecting your computer directly to your modem? Do you have the same problem then?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near your mesh system?
  • What's the status light on your Nest Wifi router?

Please let me know the answers to these questions, and I'll be happy to help you further.

Cheers,
Jonathan

The lights are white. Speed test thru Google home shows download speeds of 465 my and upload of 20mb. I have tried changing the dns settings to use is and custom of 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I have tried turning on ipv6 and turning it back off. When I connect to the wifi on my internet provider everything works fine. It seems to be only affecting Facebook, some YouTube and Google Android update downloads. No weird devices near the router.  I work 5 feet from it so it is not a distant issue.

Sorry also meant to mention the Facebook issue happens on android phones, 2 different ones, and three separate laptops. 2 laptops running windows 10 and 1 windows 11. 1 of the laptops is a cheap model with little memory but 2 are work computers that have a lot of memory,  storage and processor.

Hi @tnapier,

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate the information shared.

A good next step would be to perform a factory reset of your mesh system. Also, please let me know when the issue started. As your network is generally working, but some content doesn't load in certain apps, it's important to pinpoint the timing.

Please keep me updated on how it goes.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Ok, I did a factory reset. Facebook worked for about 10 minutes now back to not loading again. Anymore ideas before I can this stuff?

Hi @tnapier,

Thanks for the update.

To be on the same page, after trying the factory reset, have you noticed any difference in your network speed? Also, please confirm if you've tested with other apps or devices to see if the issue persists.

Any additional details you can provide will be helpful.

Cheers,
Jonathan
