Google mesh x 3 towers dont resolve smart tv buffering

I  recently bought the latest google mesh x 3 towers ($400) as was advised that this would stop the buffering that occurs when watching catchup tv.  The modem is approx 10 metres away from the smart tv. When I do a check it says the WiFi strength is great yet it hasn't made any difference at all to the buffering/freezing when watching catch up tv.  The impression I have is that the mesh towers aren't as great as being promoted to be & ive just wasted $400.  Any input appreciated.

May I ask if you have fiber, e.g. Fidium Fiber? I've bought 8 of these and I'm pissed at what's going on. I'm wondering if these devices are even compatible with Fiber.

Hi, @LeeHoward,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I apologize that the Google Mesh X3 towers haven't resolved your buffering issues with your TV as expected. I’ll do my best to help you find a solution.

  • To effectively troubleshoot, please provide me with the following information:
  • Were there any recent changes in your network setup?
  • How many devices actively use the internet at once?
  • Did you change your Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
  • Do you use a modem and router combo?
  • How did you set up the Google Mesh x 3 towers?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Minimize Wi-Fi interference: Identify and relocate devices that might interfere with your Wi-Fi signal, such as cordless phones or microwaves. This article provides more details: Troubleshoot wireless interference.
  • Reduce Wi-Fi congestion: Signals from nearby Wi-Fi networks, especially those on the same channel or with strong signals, can cause congestion. Having too many Wi-Fi points in a small area can also contribute. You can check out this article for instructions:Troubleshoot interference from other Wi-Fi networks.
  • Consider Changing DNS Settings: Changing your DNS settings within the Google Home app might improve your internet connection. You can refer to this article for instructions: Changing DNS on the Google Home.

Additionally, you can try to prioritize a device. The prioritized device has a faster connection for better performance. When the set time has lapsed, your Wi-Fi network returns to its normal settings, and every device receives its fair share of bandwidth. You can refer to this article for steps: Prioritize a device on your WiFi network

Please let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Ana
