My Google nest has never had an issue until recently. Last week on Wednesday the Wi-Fi started going in and out. The internet remained working but the Wi-Fi would go in and out. I called Spectrum they said something was wrong with the modem and yesterday they said they fixed it. They are now claiming that it is Google that is the issue. Spectrum said that I'm probably on a channel that a lot of people are on and that's the issue. I spoke to someone from Google yesterday and they troubleshooted the issue. The internet has still been calling on and off and I don't know what to do. I have already unplugged the modem and the router and then plug the modem waiting for the internet to work and plugged in the router. I have reset the priorities and my modem is a modem alone. I need help.

I'm having the same issue and have been for the last year and a half. I've been on the phone with Wifi Support many times and they just drop the case. This is bonkers! I've spent all this money on the router and 2 access points for what!? At this point, I need to go buy a different mesh network to same my marriage and my job!!

Just adding that I'm also experiencing the majority of the issues related on this thread.  Nest Wifi Router/2 points, worked flawlessly for a year and then a couple months ago just became completely unstable.  Tried factory reset, no improvement.  Very frustrating as I've also highly recommended this system to frineds/neighbors who subsequently purchased but are now facing the same issues.  The fact that they are also experience the same (geographically located across US and a couple in Canada), clearly indicates to me this is a broader problem.

I'm having the same problem. Two routers, keep dropping off every now and then, and I have to pull the power cable to for a restart. Please fix it. Used to love google nest product. Can't believe this is happening for so long and still no fix.

I have been having the same issue for a month and with the work I do in meetings for a good portion of my day it is becoming embarrassing to keep freezing in meetings or have no internet access while in the middle of someting

Surprisingly, I haven't had a disconnect in 5 days. I think that's a record for me. I wish I could say that I had some solution to offer but I have made exactly zero changes to my system. It just hasn't crashed on me.

I do have a guest network by the way and I haven't changed that either. Might be that I've just got a lucky streak going. I'll update in a few more days or sooner if I lose connection again.

Is there a current recall or lawsuit against Nest/Google?

Hi everyone. I have some dubs about what’s causing this issue. My partner has the Nest Router and two points at his home with no problem and yesterday installed the same hardware configuration in his new weekend house: when he plugged in the router, it update to the latest firmware (13729.57.27) and has no disconnects o any issue. He call me happy with his new network. He hasn’t any special o specific configuration setting up. Just plug and play.

This makes me think to something more rare, a random issue. I’m absolutely disoriented …

Same issue here. I'm in California. Have Google Nest router and 2 APs. My Xfinity modem is in transparent mode with the router plugged into it. The other port from the router is plugged into a switch which connects to my Xbox. Random drops throughout the day, WHAT A NIGHTMARE!! I mostly work from home and my kids are also studying remotely. Seriously contemplating going back to my Ubiquity setup. I got myself the Google Nest as my Christmas present which I bought directly from them.

So ... the replaced system seems to be holding wifi more consistently now.  It does lose wifi sporadically but not as often as before.   I'm trying to keep a log to track it but with kids and chaos around here it's hard to track.  It seems that the larger the demand (i.e winter break with kids home and lots of devices demanding wifi it disconnects more)  To be honest I'm dumbfounded.  obviously still an issue going on but seems to be less than last month.  But still not the bullet proof wifi I had up until a couple months ago.  The main xfinity cable modem that has wifi works fine so I know it's not the source.   Just thought I'd share since this blog has become my therapy. Cheers

Here is what I am seeing in summary

There is a response ‎08/24/2021 01:57 PM that says to change some DNS settings

Also turn off preferred activities.

Bonkers - this is nice to see other people are experiencing this issue but not nice that we are all experiencing it.

Has any one investigated the possibility that it may have to do with applying family wifi settings or prioritised device settings and it is just having trouble propagating the information and freaking out?

That's it! I've disconnected my entire Google Nest WiFi system and put back my Ubiquity solution. had to reset my Xfinity modem as I couldn't get back into it to revert bridge mode. Family all happy now that WiFi is stable again.

I'll keep an eye out in this forum for when Google has solved it with a code push to determine when to switch back, if ever.

I'm on support right now with them.  Sent my diagnostics.  As with you all, main router is fine but the pods go out all the time.  Started about 2 months ago and the tech said they updated November of '21 so it all makes sense.  I'm asking if this is a known issue and of course it is not, nothing has been logged.  The other hilarious part is they ask you if the pods are no more than 20 feet apart.  Well you tell me how you could even come close to covering a 5,000 sf home with 2 pods if they are 20' apart.  Idiots...I know where this call is going but I will report back.

Reporting back - the link between my pods and the router was broken.  So i had to reset the entire network but in a sequential order and bring it back.  They also made some changes to my DNS which wasn't the problem but was preventative.  So I suggest if you are having this issue, contact support and send them a report.  Within 10 minutes they can diagnose the problem and you should see if the link is broken.  Verdict is out of couse but I'll report back in a week to let you know if it's stable.

Another update: network went down again and talked to support again. They now claimed it was caused by a double nat situation. After an hour with my isp they finally agreed to bridge my modem. A day later, the entire network went down including the main router which has never happened. Full reboot and waiting to see if it has helped. Just know when you contact support it will always be an issue caused by external factors and not the mesh system. They blamed my naming convention, double NAT (admittedly my network speeds have improved since bridge mode) and my pods locations, even though according to their tests I have a great connection. They even blamed interference from my neighbours which is particularly curious given 99% of users live in an urban environment and it’s always the same pod that goes down.  Oh and fyi they claimed there is no history and not a known issue.   I’ll report back in a few weeks.

I got sick if my resetting my nest every hour so have my old series 1 google wifi router as the router and 2 nest APs attached to it. Seems quite stable so far.

Update - well, that didn't last. I had a period of about 5 days without a disconnection, but now I'm back to a couple of disconnects per day. WTF GOOGLE. Is there any hope for this being fixed or do I just toss this system in the trash with the rest of the garbage?

Have you been able to check to see if you have a microwave anywhere nearby?  Just testing a hypothesis.   I've never had problems until the last couple months with my microwave (Same one for years!) and yet it seems like something changed that the microwave makes my pucks have to be restarted.

I barely use my microwave so I doubt that's the problem. I can't recall there ever having been a disconnection event after the few times I have used the microwave. Almost certainly not correlated to the issue in my case.

My Google Nest Wifi started cutting out a few months ago; I don't recall the exact date, because it started gradually.  I've had my system for over 4 years, and suspected that perhaps it's just "old electronics" and needing replaced.

However, I discovered that one or two of my Wifi pucks would need power-cycled after observing a correlation with the microwave running.  This hadn't been an issue in the past, but now I've noticed a correlation to running our microwave (not close to any of the wifi pucks) that I hadn't seen before.  I've had the same microwave for 3+ years, but it's beginning to make me wonder if some change in the firmware has caused the mesh network to become corrupt or unable to self-heal after the (common) interference.

I'm curious if anyone else in this thread can relate to their microwave (or perhaps a neighbor's microwave) as to being the trigger for the issues.

edit:   I will also share that I haven't needed to power cycle the wifi puck that's plugged into my cable modem.  I've only needed to reset a puck that's on a different floor of my house, about 30% of the time after using the microwave in the kitchen.

This was NEVER a problem before, so either my microwave is behaving differently, or perhaps some firmware on the mesh network is different.

Been having similar issues here. Started out relatively small about a month ago with network maybe dropping one a week and had progressively gotten worse. Tired everything I can think of, power cycling, checking every connection in the house, factory resetting. It's gotten to a point in the last 2 days that it disconnects then reconnects after every 10 minutes! Spectrum was out yesterday and was no help, just said it's on my equipment not their signal. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a new router.

I had the problem again last night and this morning, so got onto Google Support.  They asked me to remove the dash from my wifi name, and any special characters in my wifi password.  I was using an exclamation point.  I've done that, and of course have spent the last 2 hours updating all the wifi devices in my home with the new network details.  Fingers crossed, i'll report back here in a week or two.

I’m highly sceptical this is the fix and as I said in my post they have a laundry list of items they will blame. I know the last thing they will claim is placement, despite the home app registering the connection as great, they will blame the house and / or placement. Anything to absolve themselves of responsibility.  It would be a whole lot better if they just said it’s a known issue, here are some potential fixes, but we’re working on addressing the underlying issue. Funny how naming conventions and double nat wasn’t an issue 6 months ago but it is now.

Still no dropouts since that support call.  I agree the dash in my wifi name and ! in my password seems highly unlikely, but I can't argue with the fact it's been working perfectly for 3 weeks.  Did they secretly patch something during the call perhaps? 🙂

We don’t have any special characters in our wifi name or password. This seems a bit strange to be the problem.

Having this issue too. I how that google updates us soon

This issue just started up for me on 01/28/2022. The point in my living room is the one giving me attitude.

Nest Wifi Router - Model: H2D; Software version: 13729.57.27

Nest Point - Model: H2E; Software version: 1.54.275951

My condo is 760 sq. ft. with the router hard wired in the bedroom upstairs and the point in the living room downstairs almost directly underneath the router's location on the second floor.

Never had any issues until January 28th. Seems I now have the same firmware that is giving everyone else problems. Up until this point, it was working just fine. There have been no changes on my network. My isp's (AT&T Fiber) modem is working just fine.

Seems the nest Wi-Fi firmware is bad and needs an update. This is an infuriating and frustrating issue. I am surprised to see other forum and community posts about this issue dating back to September of 2021....

Google Folks: I've seen support folks say that a fix is in the works, but that was back in november. Any update? Perhaps now that Google9to5 has picked up on it you all will do something about it.

Well, the day after I posted this, the issue went away altogether. I didn't do a single thing but it hasn't done it since.

ditto. same issue. my issue started almost six weeks ago. Google nest keeps dropping connections to connected devices. I use VPN for work, TV, other devis all are impacted. It self heals after 10 minutes but keeps disconnecting throughout the say randomly. I am even concerned running important task on my work PC.

password of my wifi is just alphanumeric. I have to reboot nest and at&t gigabit router all the time and impact my work. AT&T tech came home and ran diagnostics but nothing was found. They were kind enough to replace their device and to see that solves the problem but no luck. Its google crapshoot device that is the issue and google is not fixing it thats the worst part.

Add me to this list of disconnecting and re-connecting.

Have tried rebooting etc put problem persisting. Had no issues for 18 months, until about 2 months ago when this issue began

Hi. Raising my hand with this issue as well. We’ve been experiencing numerous disconnects per day (avg. at least one per hour) for the past year+. I previously thought the issue was due to our prior ISP but we recently became eligible for Spectrum and made the upgrade. Frustratingly, the disconnection issue persisted and we’re still experiencing very regular gaps with our WiFi. I’ve done the full reset numerous times, updated/changed the network info, changed the DNS and tried other suggestions in this thread. Unfortunately, nothing has worked and we continue to have issues. Is there a fix yet? This is an unreliable service by Google and we’re frustrated by the persistent issues, especially when needing work from home solution. We have numerous Nest cams, sensors and other products and the switch to another brand would be a considerable investment. Google needs to address this issue ASAP as it seems to be growing. Any feedback or remedy would be greatly appreciated.

@Jeff Do you have something to say about it? If not, send someone that can give us informations because it become ridiculous!

Yep same issue here in QLD Australia. Worked faultlessly for around 12 months, then boom all of a sudden constantly disconnecting.

My Nest WiFi Router worked fine for a month but now it’s been a while that it’s been going offline several times a day. When this happens even the Home app cannot connect to the router.

Throwing my hat into the mix, starting yesterday morning, 2/5, our nest wifi cuts out every hour or so, nothing works for 10 minutes and then starts working for an hour, repeat.... This is getting very annoying in a house with 50+ devices.

jroyale

Thought I’d update. Putting my modem into bridge mode didn’t solve the problem. Bedroom point goes out, unplug and repeat. $600 on this system and not even going to call support because I am positive they won’t take responsibility.

I finally found the fix after dealing with this for months now.

Just brought the Netgear Orbi wifi-6 set at Costco and threw Google's product in the trash where it seems they want it. I hope there's a class-action on this !!

Btw the orbi has a rock solid signal that has yet to cut out in the month it's been going. I miss the Google integration but not the darn headache it caused when the whole house came to me asking me to fix the **bleep** wifi for the 100th time
