Slow (or no response) for Facebook on iPhone when under Google Wifi

Slow (or no response) for Facebook on iPhone when under Google Wifi

It happens occasionally when loading Facebook content (e.g. Photos, comments or videos etc.), But it is working fine when I use the Wifi provided by the ISP directly.

Below are the 2 scenarios

ISP router > LAN > Google Wifi WAN > Wfi > iPhone Facebook (Problem happened)
ISP router > Wifi by ISP router > iPhone Facebook (Working fine)

Quite sure the issue came from Google Wifi, same ISP, same iPhone, same App. It just happened when that via Google Wifi. My wife got the same problem with iPhone 13 with Facebook.

HI Jeff,

After about 1 week, I just found the problem was still persisted. In addition, I tried to set the ISP router to obtain IPv4 address only in order to align with Google WiFi but problem not got fixed.

Thank you very much.

Hi liutatman,

I'm sorry you're still seeing issues, even after trying the IPv6 setting step. By any chance are you using custom DNS settings, or are you using the default DNS settings?

Thanks,

Jeff

I am using custom DNS settings, primary 8.8.8.8 and secondary 8.8.4.4 accordingly.

Ok, thanks for confirming that for me, liutatman. Those are the DNS settings I was going to suggest, so that's not our issue here either. I'll need to keep looking into this for you. For now, keep IPv6 disabled and using those custom DNS settings. I'll update when I can find more info.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi liutatman,

Thanks for these added details and I'm sorry for the delay.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
  2. Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
  3. Set a custom DNS at 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
  4. Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  5. If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers,

Mel

hi Jake,

I tried to factory restore the Google Wifi, uninstall and reinstall the facebook app. setup the DNS with 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Still not working.

You can just lock the thread but just let you know the issue is not solved ever.
