Google point product

Once the google point has been installed successfully...

Must it remain plugged into the modem?

If moved to another area of home will it be necessary to not only have it plugged into a standard outlet but also a phone jack outlet?

Hello @Cmfrei0812

It's not entirely clear what you're asking. But, yes – the primary Google/Nest WiFi unit has to be connected to the modem via Ethernet. That's how it connects to the internet, so disconnecting this would leave it without an internet connection.

Hey, Cmfrei0812.

I just wanted to follow up to see if you say MichaelP's reply and explanation. To just reiterate and expand on what he said, you definitely need to keep that main router plugged into the modem or else you will lose your network connection. For the additional WiFi points, those only need to be plugged into a power source once they are set up and configured on the network. You can move them from room to room and they will continue to work as long as they are powered on and still close enough to the main router to maintain a connection.

If you need any more help, just let us know.

Thanks.
