I have 400 mbps internet. My phone is showing 190 on a speed test app I installed. If I change to my modem’s wifi I stead of Google Wifi I get over 400.
This is not correct behavior. I looked in the Google Home app and ran a mesh test with no issue. I see the Google wifi is receiving 445 mbps download.
The whole reason I bought Google wifi was to improve speed and reliability. Why on earth is it slowing me down? Can I correct this or get a refund?

I also purchased mine from Amazon Australia many months ago. How did you get a refund from Amazon?
10-18-2022 07:55 AM
Got them on live chat, from faulty product in your purchases.
Got passed around a few times but when I got to an advisor who wanted to troubleshoot I linked them this thread and copied what google support asked me to do.
He said since I’d already troubleshooted with the manufacturer he would process the refund.

Hi everyone,
@PastyCloudGuy, could you fill out this form so our team can check what's happening?
@Ben90, thanks for letting the community know about what resolved your issue.
@ntyw, I hope you've got the answer you're looking for. If you're still in need of any assistance, feel free to let us know.
Best,
Mel

Are you serious? Do you even read the messages here?
What resolved my issue was getting a refund.
Couldn’t be funnier.
10-19-2022 02:34 AM
And the refund wasn't even by Google!
I have 9 mesh satellites without a refund (mine weren't purchased at Amazon and my retailer doesn't refund)
10-18-2022 10:49 PM
i had always thought that was my carrier's issue and keep changing amount the carriers. Now I know the problem is on the Google Nest Router. A lot of time and efforts were wasted.
Anyone have any idea when will Google solve the problem? or should I just dump it?
10-18-2022 11:55 PM
They've had years to fix it, so I guess that answers the question whether they will take this seriously...

Hey, there.
I've experienced the same issue described in several dozen posts. I want to share my network configuration and what I've experienced.
Background
I updated my plan from 400/40 to 1000/40. When I use the Google Home app to test, I consistently receive ~ 825 - 875 Mbps down; however, when I run speed tests on my hardwired computer in the studio, speeds drop to 250 - 400 Mbps down.
I've made my studio the preferred device and experienced the same results.
I received approximately half the speeds in my office when I had my previous plan (400/40). It's almost as though the Google Wifi puck is restricting the speeds to 50-75 percent of what I'm receiving on the primary point. WIth the 400/40 plan, I would typically get anywhere from 225 - 325 Mbps depending on the time of day.
I've tried a few other configurations about "dumbing the network," including adding a switch before my Google Wifi point before wiring to my studio. I receive the same results regardless of using network switches in the network.
I hope my diagram and recount help in this thread!
10-19-2022 10:57 AM
I think I figured it out....
Out of the three pucks that I owned, I reset the entire network and just set up the one router. Result was still getting 250 MB vs the 500 that I can pull. I put a different puck as the front router, and behold, I was now getting the 500 MB wifi speed. I then tested the remaining pucks as an extension of my mesh network, and am receiving 200 mb off the mesh points. Still 500 at the router. They all have great connection- is it normal for speed to be cut in half while connected to the mesh points?
Plain and simple, this feels like a hardware error, which is why there was never a software fix released. Re-arranged my pucks, and now get my ISP bandwidth through my google WIFI plugged into the router.

10-19-2022 04:44 PM
Ah, well there you go. Wonder if I can return these through Amazon then
10-20-2022 12:23 AM
Good find.
@melYou would say that Google will finally proactive solve this with customerd who suffer from this. A multi billion company shouldn't want to have this kind of 'publicity'
10-20-2022 12:38 AM
I was on support with my problem and the technician said my problem is a double nat issue. Put my router into bridge mode, which I can't as the router doesn't allow for it. Direct traffic through DMZ. Didn't work either. My Google WiFi is worthless
10-20-2022 01:19 AM
I'm afraid to say that "double NAT" is a standard response to woes. It's effectively gaslighting. The other is saying you need a switch. Both result in ZERO improvement and if you research more heavily it's actually just utterly unrelated
10-20-2022 06:39 AM
I'm having same issue.
Google Nest is main puck, 1 Google nest remote puck, and 3 Google Wifi remote pucks.
All of them gave me 100+ MBps until recently. Now I'm getting around 10-15 MBps on all of my devices.
Restarting the Google network doesn't help.
Google main puck "speed test" shows "blazing speed" of over 300 MBps.
My firmware is v14150.376.32
10-20-2022 06:43 AM
I am returning mine now. Spent over $300 and have had worse service than ever before. I recommend switching as well, or waste 10 plus hours being told from support it is your fault.
10-20-2022 09:55 AM
Yes that was my opinion too. Ten different things I had to do, and non of them was something Google would do.
You would say: this is a known problem, we (Google) can't fix it, so let's reamburse those with problems. Is not that difficult, instead people have a very bad customer experience and we never buy Google hardware again (and tell others not to do so as well)
10-20-2022 10:05 AM
Yes don't bother buying a new modem or switch! Just say you have haha
10-21-2022 07:17 AM
NOT SOLVED.
I hope anyone slogging through these forums will see this.
I tried sooo many suggestions on this and several other forum posts. NONE of them helped me. Don't waste your time!
I tried:
- changing DNS from ISP to Google, no help. Actually got mildly better when I changed it back to ISP.
- plugging in an extra Cat5 cable to the Nest router. (WTH?)
- Restarting network.
- Unplugging Nest router and re-plugging
- Change SSID (temporarily) and only connecting one device. (I have 55 connected devices, someone suggested maybe too many for Nest? Nope.)
- Move closer to the router/puck. (Of course it helps "some", but I still never got more than 30% of my ISP's speed)
- Put one device in Priority mode
- Add the IPv6 DNS addresses
- Remove the IPv6 DNS addresses
- Turn off Cloud Services
- Turn back on Cloud Services
- Try a different device, etc, etc.
Bottom line:
My ISP gives me 300+ mbps; and Nest router confirms it.
But over wifi LAN, I only get up to 100 mbps if standing next to the router or puck; and way less most of the time.
I worked with Google Support yesterday for an hour. Tried a lot of ^^ that stuff again. No resolution.

Hi all, after many frustrating months of experiencing the same problem as you all, my wi fi magically fixed itself about a month ago. I have reported this previously in this forum. It therefore seems pointless to me for you all to be trying to fix this yourselves. I tried everything possible to absolutely no avail so stop wasting your time. The nest is capable of delivering identical speeds to those of your ISP modem with the original set up unchanged. Mine is now mysteriously doing just that with absolutely no alterations to how it was set up and configured when I bought it two years ago. This therefore in my view eliminates every solution offered thus far as a waste of time. The thing is capable of doing what it’s supposed to, just a mystery to me as to why it now is.

Hi Beeman, would you mind to share what is the firmware version on yours and which ISP you are connecting to?
10-23-2022 02:35 AM
Hi JoYo. I’m in Australia and my ISP is MyRepublic.
System firmware version: 315675

Hi everyone,
@TRKEMountain, we got your form — thanks for filling it out. Keep your lines open as our team will reach out to you via email anytime soon.
@PastyCloudGuy, thanks for the added details. It is normal that the access points have a slower speed than the main point since it is connected to your ISP modem through an Ethernet cable.
To all, if you're still having this issue after trying the suggested steps above, please fill out this form so we can look into what's causing your issue.
Thanks,
Mel

I've already spent an hour+ on chat with Support, so you don't still need me to fill out that form, right? It's just asking Support to look into my issue, which has already been done, without resolution.
Is there a form that escalates the issue to *developers* ?
10-24-2022 07:05 AM
Ok the form has been filled in. Look forward to the reply
10-25-2022 10:42 AM
Hi folks,
@knwpsk, thanks for the update. I suggest continuing your conversation with our support team through email to avoid confusion.
@nevynevster, we haven't received your form. Could you fill out the form again with your Community username and email?
Best,
Mel

Mel,
I still have the problem I first report many months ago and previous to the most recent firmware update. I am currently using model H2D and am on firmware rev. 14150.376.32. I exhausted the support team route and a few of the more logical work-arounds mentioned on this thread. Any ideas what the scope of this problem is across all H2D models and whether it is solvable in the near term? For reference, my setup is as follows ... Cable in -> Xfinity wifi cgm4331com router -> Google Nest H2D router. Note the Xfinity router is not in bridge mode as that mode kills the internet service all together. I do however have the H2D on a separate subnet.

Update:
Nothing has changed.
The speeds are terrible and support do not know how to fix the issue.
Do not buy the Google Mesh, plugging in an old potato will give you better results.
Remember to review the product so less people go through this struggle.
11-11-2022 04:09 AM
And actually if you fill in the forms as requested by the Google team ...also nothing happens !
11-11-2022 04:21 AM - edited 11-11-2022 04:22 AM
Multiple sessions with Google's tech team and ...
nothing. They did fix my nest doorbell which was nice.
11-11-2022 04:22 AM
Why don't they do it like Stadia. It didn't work so reemburse those who bought it.
This is just terrible customer 'service'...
Buying an other brand is a gift to yourself

Unfortunately same issues as above. My IPv6 is turned off and still getting a fraction of my speeds. Main router getting over 800/800 mbps from Frontier Fiber but mesh router getting less than 100/100 mbps. Not sure why. Luckily most of my devices still connected and working but still frustrating that mesh not giving me advertised speeds.
11-12-2022 06:57 PM
Google is pushing a fix for the Mesh Pro that experiences the same issues we have. Hopefully they include more than just the Pro 6E.
The Verge: Google's rolling out a Nest Wifi Pro update to fix slow internet speeds.

Same as everyone else here, my system has slowed speeds, many times so slow the tv reception is horrible and cutting in and out. Given than google has known about this for years now, and there still are huge numbers of people with the same problem, why should anyone at this point think it can be fixed? I'm arriving at the only option I feel that will certainly give me different results in the near future - dump the nest wifi system and buy a different manufacturer. We have google fiber, 900mb up and down, and our nest wifi never allows more than 50mb, and many times is around 10mb. Crazy, we pay for 1 gb service to get 50mb over our wifi all with google's equipment.
11-21-2022 11:06 AM
I have Google wifi and I have 400 Mbps speed from the isp but Google wifi only gives 59 Mbps to my pc. Can't stream anything.
12-08-2022 05:20 AM
Hi all,
I've struggle with the limited speeds for 4 months with two people working from home/streaming. Unfortunately, Google isn't going to fix the issues we're facing.
Instead I've gone out and brought a TP-LINK WiFi Mesh and I've never been happier. Plug and play with the ISP speeds coming through to all devices. I've started a warranty claim but so far I've been on hold for 34hrs so I think they're trying to avoid me lmao. I've sent my experience through to the ACCC and I'd encourage any Australians to do the same.
You'll have much better quality of life buying something that works instead of waiting for anything to happen with google support.
12-08-2022 05:53 AM
Good for you. I agree: the best decision I've made, was to put it in the trash!
But such a shame that Google won't compensate us.
12-08-2022 05:23 AM
Looks like I'm going to have to go the same route as my Google wifi is also limiting speed and I can't get any work around that works from support. Thank you for sharing your experience.
12-16-2022 10:04 AM
I am facing the same issue from more than a year now. I kept it working by restarting the network every now and then. I don’t understand that if google knows that this issue is impacting only a few customers and not all, why not replace their devices?
12-16-2022 10:17 AM
Just bought a TP Link Deco mesh network to replace the Nest that's been having this problem. Immediately getting the correct speeds. Goodbye Nest!
