I have kids. They have devices. I have google nest home wifi thingy with 3 access points. It's great.
It has SafeSearch, which is awesome. But it is not the default. I can select my kids devices and put them into the FamilyWifi group with SafeSearch. Ok. One of them seems to get a new device fairly often. phones break. schools give out chromebooks. So I have to keep up and keep putting all their devices into the family wifi. It's not necessarily hard, but I don't want to think about it every day.
Then my kids have friends. I don't know if the employees on this team have kids or friends, but if they did, they would know the pain of many new devices coming in all the time. Again, it's not hard if someone comes up to me and says "Hi I have a new device in your house on your network" then it takes about 10 seconds to get it into SafeSearch. But no one tells me. Kids show up. Devices show up. It's the last thing I want to be concerned about.
I just don't want porn to be the default mode of the internet. I certainly don't want it to the be the default mode of my internet, in my house for my kids. Why can't I setup my home network so that SafeSearch is the default? Why do you make me opt in every device? why do new devices come, by default, excluding from SafeSearch?

Hey mckennagene,
We appreciate your interest however, we don't have any news to share about making SafeSearch available in your main network We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback.
I also suggest that you send feedback by following this link. Let me know if you have other questions or concerns, otherwise I’ll be locking this thread after 24 hours.
Best,
Mel
