How to restore Google WiFi Configuration

mlasevich
Community Member
Ok, I was forced to hardware reset my routers (because Google Home app is severely broken) and now I ended up with having to create a new home and new setup. The old Home is stl there with wifi configuration, how do I restore it? Google help tells me the backup is kept for 6 mo's, but what is the point of it of you cannot restore it!?!? In general, I had the worst ever experience of any device with this Google Wi-Fi today. I have switched my internet provider and with any other device it would take simply changing the settings in the website to make it work, with Google Wi-Fi this is a three plus hour ordeal and it looks like I lost all of my configuration for both home and Wi-Fi. I cannot believe Google is willing to put their name on this thing...

Hey, mlasevich.

Sorry for the delayed response on this and for the issues you've had with your Google WiFi setup. I know that's quite frustrating to deal with. I just wanted to follow up to see if you were able to get this sorted out or if I can jump in and help you get this worked out. Can you tell me what troubleshooting steps you have taken at this point? You should be able to just set the WiFi network up as if it was a new device set and you can use your old settings (WiFi name and password).

If you're still not getting this to work, please let me know and I'll be happy to help you out here.

Thanks.
