I have to restart my Wifi Pro everyday to keep gig speed

I have to restart my Wifi Pro everyday thru the Home app to keep gig speed.  This started about a week ago.  Nothing has changed in my house.  I have wired backhaul.  Google Fiber is my ISP.  But when I run speed test either on the web with Windows using a wired connection or thru the Home app, my speeds are often 100 Mbps until I restart the network thru the Home app.

Hello friend. I have the same problem with Google Nest Wifi H2D. And for some reason google does not analyze the problem... Just like you, it happened a week ago

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with your Nest WiFi Pro. I understand that your router is not giving you the speed that you should receive unless you restart your router, then it will start to give you the correct internet speed for a while. Let’s work together to find a solution.

In order to give you the correct steps, I need some extra information. Here are some questions for you:

  • What is your internet plan and advertised speed?
  • Do you use a modem and router combo?
  • How many devices actively use the internet at once?
  • Is there a switch located on the network?
  • What other troubleshooting steps have you taken?
  • Have you changed the DNS?

In the meantime, you can check the following article: Troubleshoot slow Wi-Fi

I’ll be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Daniel.

I have Google Fiber gigabit service.  I have not changed the DNS or done anything else.  It seems to be a Google Nest Pro problem.  Today Google Home App and Google Fiber speed test in my wired browser said that the speed was 95 instead of near gigabit.  I restarted the network and it did not help.  I disconnected the power to the fiber modem and reconnected it with no change.  I restarted my gigabit switch with no improvement.  I restarted the network again thru the Home App with no improvement.  Finally I unplugged the power to the Google Nest Pro router and replugged it in and that fixed it.  My guess is that it is firmware 3.73.424613.  At the time of the failure there were very few active devices. 2 phones, 3 computers.

Hi there!

Thanks for your reply.

I’m really happy to hear that after power cycling the Nest WiFi Pro, the issue was fixed. However, I understand the inconveniences that this may cause to you, and your feedback is invaluable to us and helps us identify areas for improvement. Then here I send you the feedback form where you can put your suggestions and share your experience after the firmware update.

If you still have assistance, you can keep posting.

Regards,

Daniel.
