I just bought a 4 pack of: Google Nest WiFi Pro G6ZUC

Hi Guys,

I want to upgrade me WIFI to 6E.  So I bought a 4 pack of these Access points.   I want to make sure I understand how these are setup.

If I plug the 1st one to the modem, my ISP via WAN port,    Can the remaining 3 points connect to the original without a hardwire?   Can I spread them out arround my house  and will they act as one network talking to each other.

Meaning:

MAIN Google Nest WiFi Pro G6ZUC - connected to modem/router and plugged into wall.

ther remaining ones spread out, only plugged into the wall via power cord.

Will the above 4 points communicate to make my network, or do they need to be wired together?

Thank you in advance, sorry for the easy question, just trying to figure out how much wiring i need to do with this 4 pack.

Hi no1ninja1973,

Thanks for posting and we apologize for the delay.

Yes, you can set up your 4-pack of Google Nest Wifi Pro access points to create a seamless mesh network without hardwiring them all together. Here's how it works:

1. Connect the Main Point:

  • Plug the primary Nest Wifi Pro unit (the one with the WAN port) into your modem using an Ethernet cable.
  • Connect the power adapter to the main unit and plug it into a wall outlet.

2. Place the Additional Points:

  • Spread the remaining 3 Nest Wifi Pro points throughout your house, strategically placing them to extend coverage and create a strong mesh network.
  • Plug each point into a power outlet.

3. Wireless Setup:

  • Use the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet to set up the network.
  • The app will guide you through the process, including:
    • Creating a new network name and password
    • Adding the additional points wirelessly
    • Optimizing their placement for best performance

4. Mesh Communication:

  • Once set up, the points will automatically communicate with each other wirelessly to create a single, unified network.
  • They'll intelligently route traffic between devices and points to ensure optimal performance and coverage throughout your home.

No Hardwiring Necessary:

  • You don't need to connect the additional points to the main unit or each other with Ethernet cables. They'll communicate wirelessly.
  • However, if you prefer a more stable and high-speed connection between specific points (e.g., for gaming or streaming), you can optionally use Ethernet backhaul to connect them directly.

Additional Tips:

  • Placement: For best performance, place the points in open areas, away from walls and obstructions.
  • App Monitoring: Use the Google Home app to check network status, manage devices, and adjust settings.
  • Firmware Updates: Keep the firmware of your Nest Wifi Pro points up-to-date for security patches and performance improvements.

I hope this clarifies the setup process and mesh functionality of your Nest Wifi Pro system! Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.

Best,

Dan
