Internet speed test - Nest wifi

Has anyone noticed that internet speed tests are slower on Nest wifi than Google wifi? I realize it makes no sense, but here's my situation:

Over the weekend I decided to upgrade my AC1200 google mesh wifi system for a brand the new AC2200 Nest wifi mesh. I have Comcast for an ISP, using a gigabit Arris modem that I own. My Comcast service is rated at 850MB download speeds. I understand that I won't always get 850 depending on lots of factors, however speed tests nearly always showed speeds above 750MB+.

After installing the the new Nest wifi system, internet speed tests are consistently in the 500MB range. Sometimes into the low 600s, but generally in the 500MB range. Absolutely nothing change on the Comcast service or the cable modem side. I have also restarted both cable modem and Nest wifi numerous times. In both cases I am using the google home app to test the internet speeds directly at the router.

Anyone else experienced this?  TIA - Tim

Hi timmed,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Wifi's speed. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • How often does this issue occur? Does this happen continuously or intermittently?
  • What's the approximate lot area of your home?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward
