Is Nest WiFi Pro a true mesh (e.g, like ZigBee), or a star-type network with satellites always connecting to the main router? I have 4 nodes, one of them furthest from the router yielding a weak mesh test - see screenshots. The recommendation Home app gives is to move a satellite close to the main router. Mind you, this satellite is 18ft away from another one with a clear line of sight.
I need to know for sure, as I'll likely return the Nest WiFi Pro and stick to another mesh, as this would be false advertising.

Nest Wifi uses 802.11s for meshing. It prefers fewer hops; if secondary units can reach the primary unit directly, even with weak signal strength, they will.

I had to delete my previous responses, as i talked my way through it my response changed. Engineer problems 🙂
first of all, these things are easily brickable, only use approved google nest config tools and avoid advanced developer options of you are not a developer.
you are not a developer. Even if you are, this isnt a raspberry pi, it's barely a bran muffin. my point is it's not fancy, no matter how elegantly you dress it up, it'll lose a shoe and turn back into a pumpkin.
the subnetting and mesh work is configured behind and under the nest, rather than built by it. This feed explains in great detail, with community resources that can help you get the configurations before nesting the middle.
hope that helps
