Isolating a Device to Local Network Only

Have a wifi connected device (laser cutter) that only needs to communicate on the local network. It turns out this device communicates externally (without user consent) and can also be disabled remotely by the company. Would like to continue using the device only locally and not allow both internet outgoing and incoming connections to just this wifi connected device. Will using the pause device feature in the google home app block both outgoing and incoming connections to the device ? And just to confirm , this is permanent until unpaused ? Thanks

According to the doc ( https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7535858?hl=en ) a device stays paused until you unpause.

Pause blocks internet access for that device or group. Internet access is mainly outbound/egress traffic; a device in your network initiates the traffic to something on the internet.

Inbound/ingress, where something on the internet initiates the connection, is blocked by default. That's one of the jobs of the built-in firewall. A way to enable inbound traffic is through port forwarding.

So pausing a device that has no port forwarding rules should block internet access both ways. Not saying inbound/ingress would keep working if pausing a port forwarded device, because I don't know. But inbound/ingress is blocked by default anyways, so not an issue IMO.
