Android phones allows you can choose “dynamic MAC address” when connecting to a new wifi network.. this means children can delete their existing Wi-Fi network from their phone and rejoin as a new Wi-Fi connection. Resulting in bypass all children restrictions/configurations you have made on google nest Wi-Fi pro ..
the smart url blocker is just a cloud service.. we have no idea what website it blocks and we cannot add any keywords to block or specify websites we want to block.
In my opinion, google nest Wi-Fi pro is useless for these kind of things..
I hope you will allow users to add specific MAC address can join the network in the future so we get some control. Currrently the product is just useless for me

You should probably look at controlling access on a different level, for instance the device itself. With products like:
• Apple screen time: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/ipad/ipadb15cb886/ipados
• Google Family Link: https://families.google.com/familylink
• Microsoft Family Safety: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/family-safety

I know there are plenty of other options however I was expecting google was as minimum requirement could handle MAC address lists. I mean, basically this nest pro is useless for parent controlling..

We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. I also suggest that you send feedback by following this link.

In the normal world, when something is not resolved, it will stay open .. this issue has not been solved
I am unable to do restriction or family filter since apple and android phone pr default has privat/random MAC address.

the whole conversation has been how to close this thread and not resolve anything. Nest promises something but cannot delivery.. basically family settings is useless and doesn’t work.
There are no concerns about what I’m complaining about but you are diverting me to ask for new feature requests. why would I request new features when currently promised functionality doesn’t work?
are you telling me that you want to close this thread without solving my issue?
@AbigailF do you understand the issue I’m facing? Will you bring in some experts who can respond to the issue I’m facing or are you only interested in closing this thread for your KPI?

Hi again 10lan,
My apologies for the late response. I get how you’d like this function to work for your needs. Both our feedback and feature requests can be sent through the same link I’ve provided earlier. To move forward with this, it’s best to let our team know about it. They use the feedback they get from customers into consideration everytime there is a new software or firmware update. They won’t be able to reply to your feedback personally but rest assured that all data sent to them are valued and used to make the overall experience better for our customers.
Regards,
Abi

It’s not about how I like it to work. Pr default the function you promise would not work on iPhone and android phones as they use dynamic/private Mac adresse. Thats the issue

Hey there,
It should work fine on both iOS and android devices. However, we couldn’t control if the device connects using dynamic MAC addresses. I understand that your concern is more about your children’s devices, so I suggest checking out olavrb’s suggestions. The best thing we can do for now is to send a feedback so our engineers can take note of this in the future.
Thanks,
Abi

LOL. This one of the most ridiculous threads. I have owned a google nest wifi for a couple years, am tired of the lack of security controls, google's inability to address security issues and children getting around filters. This is a legitimate issue, but google is more concerned about closing a chat thread. This is the last straw. Going to look into another product for wifi. Best of luck closing the thread, community specialists.
