My Nintendo Wii will not connect

I have been trying to connect my Nintendo Wii to the Google Nest router in my apartment, but when I search for the network it does not appear.

I am wondering if this has something to do with the Wii only supporting 2.4 GHz or the fact that it is 802.11 b and g? I know Google Wifi is dual band so I am curious why it doesnt show. I want to see if there are any free options before I buy a LAN adapter and a very long ethernet cable.

can you use your phone as a hotspot and see if the Wii can see the phones wifi signal, just to double check that there isnt a hardware issue with the wii itself?

Also, be sure that the encryption on your wifi isnt set too high for the wii to allow

Wii can use WEP, WPA (TKIP or AES) and WPA2 (AES)
