Need to reset network every few days to get bandwidth back up to peak levels

I've noticed over the last 3-4 weeks that I need to restart my Nest Wifi network every few days. Bandwidth at peak level is 900mb/s. It drops down below 50mb/s after a few days and I need to restart via the Google Wifi app. Once restarted the bandwidth levels bounce back. Comcast 1gb service and I don't restart my Comcast modem so definitely a NEST issue. Did an update recently go out that caused this? Prior to this issue I never needed to restart the Nest Mesh network. Any thoughts?

Hello @Jhonleanmel annd @eamonkgavin ,

Reaching out from Australia for some assistance. This clearly isn't a geographically isolated issue and perhaps over a large range of Google Wifi models being impacted. 

My setup:

1. Google WIFI (gen 1) AC-1304 Main, with additional 6 pucks running firmware: 14150.375.32
2. 5/7 pucks wired connected to switch and many of my devices i use to speed check are hardwired, therefore, interference should not be factored in. 
3. Direct fibre ISP connection (250mbps down and 25mbps up) to Google WIFI Main puck - no ISP modem / router bridge 
4. No special characters used in SSID and password
5. Primary and secondary DNS has been set as per your suggestion
6. IPv6 turned OFF
7. Network Reset has been performed 
8. Preferred activities turned OFF

The only way i'm able to achieve ISP promised speeds without power cycling the unit is to 'set priority device' window to any available device (wired / wireless). Only then, speeds are maintained during the window period selected. 

This is clearly a software glitch that needs addressing, i do hope a firmware update will be made availabe within timely manner.

Well I figured out the issue after hours of trial and error. My Nakamichi Shockwave system is interfering with the wireless speeds as it using the 5ghz band. Speeds return to normal with the soundbar off and immediately tank when it's on. I was able to hear audio distortion coming from the subs as well. If anyone has a similar setup,there is a guide on Nakamichi's website addressing this issue.

Thanks for posting and for sharing what you've done to have your concern resolved. We're glad to hear that you've sorted it out although it took a few tries — thanks for not giving up on it. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions here.

 

Would it be okay if others try the same thing @Gkeller16 did? Unplug everything and leave only a few to check which devices hog most of the bandwidth and frequency? Also, do a speedtest and compare the upload and download with/without those devices.

Happy to be corrected, but to my understanding we may be sharing multiple issues on this forum. @Gkeller16  appears to have identified radio frequency interference, however, the speed issues raised by me are relating to tests carried out using Google Home application. The speed test built into the application tests speeds between the WIFI puck (Main AP - AC1304) and the hardwired connection to fibre. 

The only way i've been able to achieve my promised ISP speeds is to activate 'set priority device' function that would restore expected speeds. 

Looking forward to a permenant solution provided by Google.
