I have a nest WiFi network. I have 1000mbps service from Xfinity. I have a Aris Surfboard S33 modem. I have CAT 7 cable between everything. My set up is: modem —> nest WiFi router —> unmanaged switch —> nest WiFi router — nest WiFi point for my 2 story 2800 sqft house. I consistently measure over 300 mbps WiFi. The google home app measures over 800 mbps getting to the router itself. All those speeds seem good. (I use the switch to run Ethernet straight to my LG tv and stereo receiver; and the TV for some reason measures really slow speeds at like 2mbps despite being the only hard wired hardware in the house; not sure if that is related or not).
Despite all that, I have several devices that still perform slowly. My smart tvs, Apple TV, wife’s laptop, and phones will all suffer from time to time with really laggy video or apps not loading on the phone. 1 example is it just took my phone 3 min to download an app from the App Store despite measuring over 300mbps at the same time. If I switch off WiFi to 5g it takes like 5 seconds to do the same thing.
I use ookla speed test, the Xfinity app, chrome browser, and the google home app to test WiFi speeds and they all say the same thing consistently. I never check it it and see slow speeds. Even when that same device is suffering, it will always measure over 100mbps, usually over 300.
I have about 50 smart home devices, include nest thermostats, google home speakers, and then a bunch of lights, plugs, doorbells, etc, mostly using the 2.4ghz part of the network. I’ll have 50-60 total devices on my network at any given time. Based on research here on this site, 2 hard wired routers should be able to easily handle 60 devices total.
So I’m wondering:
1) why are my devices still so slow despite measuring fast speeds?
2) are there other tools I can use besides those speed test to understand how/if my network is getting clogged up by something? How might I dig deeper on this?
Thanks for any help or insight.

Hi there!
Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry to hear the inconveniences that you’ve been experiencing with your Nest WiFi and the slow internet connection on your smart devices. I understand that your internet provider gives you around 1000 mbps and you have a setup that includes one modem, 2 Nest wifi routers, and a switch that gives connection to your smart TV where you just receive 2 mbps, and you are suffering slow internet connection in almost all of your devices even though the tests show up to 300 mbps. No worries; help is here. In order to provide you with the correct assistance, I need to know some information that will help me to assist you further. Then here I have some questions for you:
In the meantime, let’s try the next:
