Hi, I have two point google nest wifi system. Great speeds and great mesh connection. I have a TV right next to one of the points and on the Google home app the TV's connection is weak. We do get buffering quite often when watching on that TV. What gives? Is it just the WIFI receiver in the TV defective or poor quality?

Hello @emayer
I have a couple possible thoughts. First, oddly enough, it is possible to have WiFi devices too close to each other. Can you try moving the Nest WiFi Point a bit so it's at least three feet away from the TV?
The other thought is that it may be interference from a wireless surround sound system, or even just a wireless subwoofer connected to a sound bar. But, if you have something like that, I would expect the Nest WiFi Point to have a less than "great" mesh connection, too, and you indicated it was not having issues.
Lastly, many TVs have a reputation for having somewhat poor WiFi implementation, unfortunately. I would still try to experiment with the Nest WiFi Point unit's placement to see if you can improve the situation.

Is it also possible the TV might have latched onto one of the mesh points (e.g. the router) that's further away? In Google Home if you look at the details of the TV in your wifi network it should show which point it's connected to, handy if you've named the points well. If so you could try 'forgetting' the network on the TV then connecting again to make sure it's connecting to the closest point.

That's a good thought and worth checking into for sure. I would try completely powering off the TV by unplugging it for at least ten seconds to see if it connects to the closer access point. That may be easier than going through the forget/setup process again, though that may also be worth a try.

Thanks for the responses. I really appreciate the input. The point is 6-8' away from the tv and the only other electrical device in the room is an alarm clock. I have unplugged the TV before when we have tried watching and it kept buffering and it did seem to help but have not looked at the details of which point the TV it connected to. I will try that and let you know if I see any improvements. I am thinking it might just be the TV or it might be a big part of the problem.

Hi, emayer.
It looks like MichaelP and Juzdu were able to give you some good insight on this and a few things to try out. I just wanted to follow up to see if you were still looking for some input on this or if you were all set for now. If you need more help, just let me know.
Thanks.

Thanks, Jeff. Yes, all very good input and very much appreciated. I tried a few things and I still get buffering from time to time. I think it might just be the TV. A phone or tablet in the same room has good reception.

Thanks, emayer. Is there anything more we can do for you on this, or should we go ahead and mark it as resolved?
