Nest WiFi Flashing Red and Can't Factory Reset

I've had a Nest WiFi set up since 2020 with very few issues. Today the broadband dropped out for 5 to 10 mins. I power cycled the BT router and performed a network restart from the Google home app. 

Now the nest WiFi router has a flashing red light. I can not hardware reset it by holding the button underneath. When I do this the light flashes yellow for a short period, but then goes white and then back to flashing red again. From the trouble shooting instructions it should go from flashing yellow to solid yellow and continue it's factory reset. 

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest Wi-Fi router has a flashing red light. Help's here!

 

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

 

  • Were there any recent power outages in your area?
  • Do you have Nest WI-FI points?
    • If so, Are the Wi-Fi points plugged into a power outlet?
  • Is the light turned off in the Google Home app?
  • Has your Wi-Fi network experienced any issues in the past?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

Thanks for trying to help. 

There was a broadband outage, but no power outage. 

Yes. I have 3 nest WiFi points. They were switched on at the time, but are now all switched off as they are useless without the router. 

Not sure what you mean about the light in the app, but the router isn't broadcasting SSID and simply flashes red on the unit itself. 

The only previous issues have been points going offline every now and then, which would be fixed with a power cycle. 

Yes. I have attempted to factory reset at least 20 times. I can make it flash yellow, but it does not progress to solid yellow. The light goes from flashing yellow to the white start up routine and then back to flashing red again.
