Nest WiFi Pro Offline Issues Part II

I had previously started a post regarding this issue some time ago that can be referenced here:
https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Wifi/Nest-Wifi-Pro-Issues/m-p/349245#M37663

I was working w/ @AbigailF at the time doing what felt like endless troubleshooting. I was eventually forced to switch back to the older Google WiFi system so I could work reliably but I'm back and ready to give it one last shot before asking for some help to return these things. I factory reset them and spun my network back up. For just about 24h it was flawless and fast, then, it all came back. The non-primary node started dropping offline periodically again and it seems to be increasing in frequency, taking my previously reliable internet speeds all over the place w/ it (verified against direct connection to modem). I also tried switching to Google Public DNS, which was the last thing @AbigailF asked of me. After changing the DNS and a fresh network restart, it only took about 2h before the non-primary router dropped connection again. Let me summarize my problems again, and make one last plea for next steps, in some hope that I can help ya'll finally nail down this issue that so many seem to be experiencing for a while, but if we can't get it in a couple steps, I'd like some assistance getting a return processed as these have never really worked for me.

- Secondary router periodically drops connection and comes back up
- Mesh connectivity will show good and later drop or show poor mesh w/ no environmental changes whatsoever
- Speed through router (wired and wireless) is considerably slower and often unpredictable compared to another system I separately have direct wired to the modem that feeds the primary router

Useful info:
Router Model: G6ZUC
Router Software Version: 1.63.355999
Modem: Netgear CM1100

I too, like many, have recently started to have this issue.  Only fix is a restart of the entire network which is not always feasible especially for those of us that work from home full time.  Google needs to push out a fix for this ASAP.  This is a very expensive investment that has only worked well for less than 2 years.  Just enough to be over the 1 year warranty period.

I have had the same issue, Google can't solve, spent a fortune on a. Product that does not do what they claim and that they desperately need to firmware upgrade to make it usable - they have been promising that for a year…..i stupidly installed over 2 properties 9 routers as they hit the right price point - had good reviews - as I suppose no one dares say anything bad on a review desk about Google  - yet my synology mesh running parallel is blistering fast and never drops…its like comparing seal team 5 with dads army….

Same issue here. Throttling of gig internet to around 200mbps with frequent disconnects and dropouts. Hope it gets fixed quickly.

It's been an issue for nearly a year, I am trying to get my reseller to take them back as they are totally useless so I can get a system that does what it claims with support that care.....so tired of trying and hoping google actually want to serve their customers.....anyway lesson learned......

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the delay, and we’re sorry to hear about the concern you’re all having with your Nest Wifi Pro having an offline issue. A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? Also, do you have any paused devices?

We know that you’ve already tried other options. It would be a pleasure to help you get through this. Kindly try these steps:

  1. If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
  2. Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
  3. Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
  4. Turn off IPv6:
    1. Open the Google Home app Google Home app.
    2. Tap the Wi-Fi coin  and then Settings Settings.
    3. Scroll down and tap Advanced networking.
    4. Scroll down to IPv6.
    5. Toggle the switch off Toggle button off.
  5. Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
  6. Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
  7. If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network. Take note that this will delete all network data.

You may skip any step that you’ve done already.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Dan
