Nest WiFi Pro network id not visible in Win 10 PRO

Windows 10 PRO does not display the Nest WiFi Pro network id.

Hey @Tbuschle .

  • Is this a new laptop or an existing one?
  • Did this issue start recently?
  • Did the network change in any way before the issue started?
  • Do you have any special characters in the SSID?
  • Do you have Advanced settings configured (i.e. WPA3, IPv6, etc.)?

Thanks for replying.  

Since posting I discovered that the 2016 USB network adapter on my old Dell 7450 laptop was not compatible with my new Google Nest Wifi PRO network.  For that matter, documentation didn't list Windows 10 as being supported with the adapter that I was using, but it worked until I changed to the Nest/Mesh system to utilize my recent change of ISP to fiber @ 750 Mbps.

As for you questions for future use:

 

  • Is this a new laptop or an existing one?   Existing
  • Did this issue start recently?  Recent change in router
  • Did the network change in any way before the issue started?  yes see above
  • Do you have any special characters in the SSID?  SSID is "Th!s_P!t@"
  • Do you have Advanced settings configured (i.e. WPA3, IPv6, etc.)?   I attempted the following config changes on the Nest PRO:
    • Turned off "Use 160 MHz channel for maximum performance on 5GHz
    • Enabled IPv6

Thanks for the update @Tbuschle .

It sounds like the issue is the adapter and compatibility. Try disabling 160Mhz channel and test. If the issue still persists, disable IPv6 as well. I'd also check to see if WPA3 is enabled as it can cause issues with older devices as well. While special characters in an SSID have been known to be a problem, it doesn't seem to be so here unless it changed also.

Please let me know if you are able to get it resolved with the above or if you still have issues.

  This issue is resolved.  I am however having issues understanding the complexities of the Google Home app and it's relation to my Google Nest Wifi PRO.  Documentation I am finding internally in the App doesn't match what I am seeing on the screen.

  Is there up to date documentation (hopefully with screen shots) available anywhere?
