Nest WiFi not forwarding ssh?

motowanderer

I'm running a local web server on my home network.  I can port forward 443 and 80 no problem, but 22 is not working.  I tried running SSH on a different port, and that's not working either.

Does NestWiFi not support forwarding SSH traffic?  If so, I'll have to buy new networking equipment.

Hi @motowanderer

Thanks for posting in the community. I understand that you're trying to set up your Nest WiFi router in developer mode. Here's a breakdown of the steps involved:

Tools Required:

  • A screwdriver
  • A USB-C adapter with Power Delivery
  • A USB drive with the GaleForce software

Once you have that, let’s continue with the following steps:

  • Use a screwdriver, USB-C adapter, and precise button presses to put the router into developer mode
  • Insert a USB drive with the GaleForce software

You can also set up port forwarding or port opening on a Google Nest WiFi router using the Google Home app:

  • Open the Google Home app
  • Tap Favorites Wifi Settings
  • Advanced Networking
  • Port management >  Add
  •  Select the tab for the type of IP address you're forwarding
  • Select a device
  •  Add your internal and external ports
  •  Choose either Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP), or TCP/UDP
  • Tap Save

Let me know if this works for you; we'll be on the lookout to help you further.

Regards,

Catheryn.

Hi Catheryn,

I did use the Google Home app and set up port forwarding, but it's not working.  Do I have to also do the screwdriver thing?

Thanks.
