Nest WiFi point 8/9-digit code cannot be entered into Home app

I have a Nest WiFi router with 2 additional points.

After getting an internet upgrade to fibre at our home, I have just done a factory reset on the entire network.

I got the base unit all set up using the QR code.

When it prompts to connect the other 2 points however, there is no QR code on them, so I have chosen to enter the 9-digit code manually.

The app asks for a NINE digit code, but on the bottom of the device is an EIGHT digit code.

When I try to enter the code into the app where it is asking for it, it will not accept some of the letters/numbers, but it does accept others. But it won't let me type in the whole number, which is making it impossible to connect the points.

So it looks like it is confusing these points with some other generation of device that requires a different type of code.

I have tried both points individually and the same issue is happening on each.

Hey @dme102 .

Any way you can share a screenshot of what you are seeing on the app? The code should be 8 digits so if the app is asking for 9 then it may need to be escalated to Support.

I'm migrating too but my home app is asking for an 8 digit install code but I have 9 digits. I can't get them to load into home app. Please help

I ended up restarting the process and it correctly asked for the 8-digit number, which worked. Try restarting the app and starting the linking process again. It seems to detect the wrong device sometimes.

I'm happy to hear that the restart process worked for you, dme102.

striperseeker, could you give that a try and see if it works for you as well?

Thanks,
Jeff
