Nest WiFi point code removed (actually)

After reading all the threads and watching videos I have concluded that actually my Nest wifi point does not have a code. The rubber membrane upon which it is engraved has been removed.  
Is there a way to use this device without a code? Or recover the code?  The router recognizes it just fine but …. No code.
