Nest Wifi Pro - Mesh failing

MrLeeches
Community Member

Hi All,

The mesh on my Nest Wifi Pro keeps failing. I have the 3 pack, connected wirelessly.

the problem shows in a number of ways:

  • Cant cast to a speaker connected to a different Wifi point
  • Devices drop in and out of connectivity
  • Cant print to printer unless I am on same wifi point as printer
  • Cant see smart plugs unless connected to same wifi point

you get the idea.

A restart solves the issue temporarily, as does a factory reset. I had this same problem with Nest Wifi 1.0. Upgraded to the Pro and things have been great for 18 months but now I am back at restarting my wifi every couple of hours...

any ideas?

Hello @MrLeeches, @splinecl,

Thanks for posting in the community.

I understand the frustration caused by the ongoing connectivity issues with your Nest WiFi Pro mesh system. It's concerning that you're experiencing similar problems as you did with the previous Nest WiFi system, even after a factory reset.

Here are some steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

  • Overcrowded Network: Consider disconnecting unused devices temporarily to see if reducing network load improves stability.
  • Channel Interference: If the Wi-Fi signal seems strong but then drops, interference from other electronics might be a culprit. Try changing the Wi-Fi channel on the Google Home app or following the steps on the next link: Change DNS settings.
  •  Try changing your password by following the next steps:
  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Tap Favorites.
  3. Tap WiFi.
  4. Tap Network Settings.
  5. Enter a new network password. Click the eye icon to check if the password appears in plain text.
  6. Tap Save.
  •  Make sure your modem is working as a modem only. You can double-check with your Internet service provider if the modem model you have is a modem, modem and router combo, or router, and please confirm your modem is in bridge mode.

Advanced Troubleshooting:

  • Firmware Update: Ensure your Nest WiFi Pro system is running the latest firmware. Updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements. Check for updates through the Google Home app, or uninstall the Google Home app and install it again to get the latest version.

Please follow the steps above and let me know how they go, thank you.

Regards,

Jorge
