I have been using a Nest Wifi system for a number of years to my great enjoyment. My Internet setup is not optimal because my ISP insists on providing a combined modem/router. I had previously invested quite a bit of time testing the modem/router in bridge mode, but for whatever reason, it did not like this and resulted in significant speed drops. Therefore, I have resigned myself to using the modem/router for wired connections, one of which goes out to the Nest Wifi modem, which is the source for wireless connectivity in my household. This does result in a double NAT on the wireless network; so any devices where this matters heavily (gaming devices) are generally wired in. In spite of the double NAT, the Nest Wifi system handled the connections flawlessly and was able to draw approximately 900 Mbps (900 up / 780 down) of the gigabit connection off the ethernet connection to the modem/router.
However, over time, some of the wireless access points started to act finicky and drop out, so I think they were starting to break down. Since the Nest Wifi is no longer officially available through Google, I decided to make the significant investment to upgrade the whole system to Nest Wifi Pro. This has been an unmitigated disaster. Despite days of trying to troubleshoot the issue, the Nest Wifi Pro seems much less able to handle the double NAT issue than the older generation Nest Wifi. In fact, my wireless network sees only ~200 Mbps (200 down / 780 up) to the mesh network to be shared among my wireless devices. Also, not having Google speakers built into any of the points is a major downgrade. Considering what an expensive "upgrade" this has been combined with Google's disappointing return policy (15 days), this downgrade has been especially frustrating.
I've resigned myself to putting my old Nest Wifi devices back up and scrounge the Internet for a couple new devices in overstock for backup since they're no longer in production. If this isn't something that Google can address through a firmware update, I can guarantee I won't be using Google for future networking.
If anyone has had similar issues with the Nest Wifi Pro and knows an actual solution, though, I would be very interested in knowing it...

My ISP also requires a combo device , however I could go into it and change it to gateway mode , so the router function was disabled...is this an option for you?
