Nest Wifi won't connect to the internet using PPPoE

As I was trying to fix a double NAT issue in my network this morning, I have about decided it can't be done.

Google support told me to contact my ISP and have them put their router in bridge mode.  I did that. The tech came out this morning and put the router in bridge mode. After that we tried very unsuccessfully to update my WAN to PPPoE.  I finally gave up and did a factory reset.  After the factory reset, I tried to set the Nest back up using PPPoE, but although everything is connected, it kept saying no internet.  We worked on it for 3 hours and couldn't get it to work so I gave up and put it back.  Guess I'm doomed to have double NAT unless I buy another brand of mesh.

Could be a ISP with compatibility problems that Google haven't fixed. There are topics about this going back to 2016.

What ISP? What exact modem brand and model?

I don't work for Google.

Hey folks,

Thanks for the help, @olavrb,

@brothertroy777, sorry you're still having issues with your Google Nest Wifi devices. Were you able to finish the setup on your Google Home app yet it shows you offline afterwards?

Could you try to set up your devices and check if your connecting devices will connect to your Google Nest Wifi network even though the Home app shows it as offline?

Keep us posted.

Best,

Mel
