Nest loosing WiFi driving me nuts

Please help. It is so annoying to not be able setup nest from the phone. I had my share of issues with the entire nest learning function drawing money out of my pocket with nonsense cooling or heating but this one may be last straw.
each time I need to change something it tells me to restart/sign out.

Hi Oliwer78,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Nest Community team! I understand the inconvenience you're having when trying to set up your Nest thermostat on the Nest app. No worries; I will do my best to help you find a solution.

To better understand the situation, please help me by answering the following questions:

  1. What kind of Nest thermostat do you have?
  2. Is this the first time you connect the thermostat to your current WiFi network?
  3. Did you change your Internet service provider?
  4. When trying to set up the thermostat on the Nest app, do you get any error messages? If so, what is the error about?

Here are some steps you can try to fix your thermostat not connecting to the app.

Please feel free to let me know once you're done.

Best Regards,
Jonathan

I am having a similar problem.  I added new wifi hardware to Netgear Orbi Pro from regular Orbi.  The nest came online without issues because we used the same network info.  I can see it on the network map as connected at 2.5 GHz.  When the offline message appeared I looked at the power and was over 3.8.  Next offline it was over the minimum voltage, but put it on the charger to 3.9 and it stayed online for 3 hours.

I did that multiple times.  I then read about how to reset using the account connection method.  I executed that with the app removal as well.  I went back through the entire setup process and that was successful the units stayed on for about 6 hours until I got the discounted message on my phone.  It can see the thermostat but can't find either of the sensors that are no more than 25 feet away.  This is how it starts then in a couple of hours it will lose the thermostat as well.  Any other ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Fr8Dog5440,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Nest Community team! I'm sorry to hear you're having a similar situation using your thermostat normally. I'll do my best to help you find a solution.

To understand better how I can assist you, please answer the following questions:

  • What type of Nest thermostat do you have?
  • Does the thermostat display show any error codes or messages?
  • Do you have a "C wire" on your AC system?
  • Please check the thermostat's power readout. Under Settings > Technical Info > Power, you can find the thermostat's power readings. If possible, please share the VOC and VIN readings.

I'll also send you some troubleshooting steps for you to try. These steps will help us determine if the issue is related to Wi-Fi:

  • Disconnect the thermostat from your Wi-Fi network for 24 hours to see if the battery drains quickly.
  • Check if Nest services are offline.
  • Ensure the thermostat wires are securely fastened to their terminals and all buttons are fully pressed.

Please feel free to let me know once you're done.

Best Regards,
Jonathan
