Nest mesh point not completing setup

Kmkubota

have an existing Google Home with 2 access points successfully working.  I have a Google Nest Wifi (newer model) that goes through setup until the final part where it states "downloading the final bits ....." but keeps coming back with "The Operation timed out and couldn't be completed".  My only choice is to click "Done".  It then adds the Nest device under Wifi Devices but it's not working and just basically in no man's land.  My only recourse is to "Remove the Device" and start again.

I have tried the following steps to troubleshoot:

1.  Factory reset the Nest Wifi at least 5x with no success

2.  Tried reinstalling Google Home app on my iPhone and rebooting my iPhone - didn't help

3.  Tried setting up the Nest Wifi on my iPad - didn't help

4.  Rebooted the whole Wifi network - no help

Beyond resetting the entire Wifi network and having to setup every Wifi device again from scratch, anyone have any other suggestions?

Ok, so after seeing the comments I went and plugged the point back in, and what do you know, it’s now connected, after over 2 hours only trying it magically Happens by itself. Thank you for the feedback

Hi there,

I was just suffering through the same painful issue and then finally the one thing that worked from this post here...

https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Wifi/Operation-timed-out-and-couldn-t-be-completed-addin...

....was to turn off IPv6 while adding the Nest Wifi Point and then turn it back on aftewards.

No idea why. Just know it worked for me. Good luck.

Hey folks,

I’m sorry for the trouble this may have caused.

We appreciate the link you provided, Dynomite2910.

Kmkubota, were you able to set up your Google Nest Wifi network by disabling the IPv6 before the process as suggested above? Let us know if you have additional concerns ― we’d love to help.

Best,

Mel

Hey Kmkubota,

Thanks for the update, I’m glad that your Google Nest Wifi point is now working.

As we got our resolution here, I'm going to mark this thread as resolved. I'll be locking this thread if we won't hear back from you in 24 hrs. Should that happen, feel free to create a new one if you have more questions or have other concerns in the future.

Best regards,
