Nest router as a wifi point

I'm trying to set up a nest router as a new wifi point. I already have a mesh network and want to use it to connect my PC via ethernet. I've read online that it's possible it only identifies it as a router and then wants me to connect to a modem. Is this possible?  Is there something I'm missing?

Hi scosta24,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand that you'd like to set up your Nest Router as a new Nest Point. I appreciate you detailing the steps you've already taken. Let's work together to find a solution.

All Nest Wifi routers can function as points in the mesh network. Once you've determined the placement of your point, please follow these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.

  2. Tap Devices Add Google Nest or partner device.

  3. If prompted, choose a home.

  4. Select the device you would like to set up as a point, then tap Next.

  5. Scan the QR code on the bottom of your device.

  6. After you scan the QR, your point will now connect.

  7. Follow the in-app instructions to finish setup.

  8. If you'd like to add another point, tap Yes in the app when prompted or repeat these steps at a later time for additional points.

  9. Once you've added all of your Wi-Fi devices, the app will perform a mesh test to confirm everything is working.

Please let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Byron
