I have been using a 3 pack google nest wifi router setup for about 4 years. We moved to a new home and added a shed. I bought a 4th unit and everything has been running fairly well till this week. We had a VDSL (NBN) connection with a speed of 100/20. We are fairly close to the node so I usually saw download speeds of 103 and rarely under 95. This speed was measured using speed test on my phone or tablet as well as using the speed test in google home. This week we upgraded to fibre and a 250/20mb plan. I had to factory reset the Google nest units to get them to work with the change over. Now I am getting round 243mb download speed in google home and less than 50mb on speed test on my phone or tablet. It is visibly slower even though google home says the speed is much higher. I also have a fing unit attached via ethernet and it is showing speeds up in excess of 240. It appears to be the WiFi side only that is slow. Anyone have any ideas? I would rather not go to the expense of a new mesh setup but the speeds can't say as they are. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

OH I agree. Google wi fi on node 1 says I have 500mb but actually at the next node 25mb download. Where are all the MB going?

I can turn off all nodes except the main one and sit within 2 metres of it and get less than 50mb download speed but if I go to google home I get 248mb. Definitely something wrong with the WiFi.

The wifi has gotten a little better but there should be more settings available to change channels etc to see if the problem is a channel clash. Surely there nis more than 2 of us with this problem.

I agree. My Plusnet router will allow me to tweak the channels however it's difficult to see if there is a clash.
In use the 30mb I got today is fine, Not the 500mb paid for but everything works.
One theory, (a speculation). We are effectively a dormer bungalow. Quite a large floor area. 4 nodes I host, one good and two weak connections. Distance between nodes is a max of 10 meters, however, I have lots of insulation and bubble foil in the roof walls, maybe this is soaking up the speed?
My next test will be to connect directly to the WAN on the optic fibre box without the Plusnet modem. (slightly apprehensive!)

Hello everyone,
That certainly isn’t the experience we want you to have, and we apologize for the delay. A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet service provider (ISP)? Which Google/Nest router are we working with? What device are you using to set up your network (iOS or Android)? Do you have the Internet on your modem?
You can do a sequential reboot of your entire network and see if that helps, or please perform a 2-minute power cycle on your entire network to re-establish the connection on your connected devices. Here's how:
Also, you can give these steps a try:
You may skip any step that you’ve done already.
Let us know how it goes.
Best,
Dan
